I've realized (belatedly, no doubt) that this is a transition time for my relationship with House fandom. It'll be interesting to see what comes up next.

I wrote a sentence last night with 64 words and no commas. Heh.

I often find that the show is more a more enjoyable experience when you ignore the fandom. I had to learn this the hard way. I've been affected so much by fandom this season in a very negative way (and, of course, it's my own fault for not backing away when I should have, but it doesn't change that it happened now, I guess). I enjoyed this season far less than I might have if it wasn't for being exposed to extreme shipper views and attitudes. It made me more frustrated than anything else, and even though the negative and bitter feelings I acquired during that time are sticking around and are still affecting how I view the show, they're less. Hopefully, with even more time away from the 'ship' comms, it will disappear and I'll be able to watch the show with the enjoyment I did before I got so immersed in fandom. I find it's already better just sticking to the fringes of fandom. Read the much more 'neutral' comms, discuss with my f-list and people I trust and respect (and who I know will respect me), write what I enjoy and what I find meaning in, read fics from authors I've come to like and trust. It really is not fun jumping into fandom for the sake of being part of it, only to find yourself frustrated and, as you said, banging your head against a wall.

I totally agree with you here.
