What if

What if, what if...

What if House gives a eulogy for his father, but it's really all about Wilson?

About not appreciating someone until you lose them; how frustrated he'd make House when he lectured; how House had been horribly annoyed all the times he tried to teach House a lesson but now in restrospect, some of those lessons might have been worth something; how the man had tried to teach him the value and importance of love and it's only now that House can really understand and finally admit his own love for this frustrating, annoying person.

"We haven't been on the best of terms, and the distance between us has been weighing heavily on my mind. If I could have one wish, it'd be to reconcile with him, for both of us to air our differences and admit our faults, and for me to get the chance to tell him how much I really do respect, admire, and love him."

What if?

That would be amazing. I mean I wouldn't put it past House, it is the way he communicates (that round about way sometimes). I was checking out the posted pix to see where Wilson was sitting, didn't see him in any but that means nothing. This is a very interesting idea.

HL said in an interview that House does something "devious" to win Wilson back. I couldn't figure out how being devious would impress Wilson at all, but if he did something like this, it'd fit. :)

It'd be a cool thing, I think.

I saw those pictures. It might be a Bible or a prayer book. There was a casting call for someone to play a minister for this episode -- Methodist, I think, or some other Protestant Christian denomination -- so it's a possibility House could read, or maybe the book was left behind by the minister.

Yes, this. I was having similar thoughts. House is sneaky like that. I keep thinking of how he did a similar thing in Failure to Communicate, when he was on the phone, and talking about the patient and his wife, except he wasn't. He was talking about himself to Stacy--"give the woman you love the life she wants, all you have to do is change"--and I could definitely see him employing the same technique for Wilson here, except, of course, he won't mess it up this time. There's precedence!

I think that's a brilliant idea and would love to see it happen. It would make House's mother (who he does love) happy, although under false pretenses, and would mend fences with Wilson without House being required to say anything nice about the father he hates.

House is twisty-sneaky like that in his logic, so yes! :)

If House was clever enough with his phrasing, Mama's lie-detector wouldn't even go off, because it'd all be true. Just not about Papa House.

Hugh Laurie said House would do something "devious" in getting Wilson back; this'd fit, wouldn't it? :D

There was a fic where Wilson went to a funeral with House, for some member of House's family (maybe his father, I don't recall), and House decided they should pretend to be together to freak out the relatives. That's brilliant, perfect, and it makes complete sense. I really think this is how it will play out. It's probably the only way to get Wilson to actually listen to him. House would be confessing everything to a room full of people but it would still be a completely intimate moment between House and Wilson. I'm expecting something like this.

It was horribly, obviously photoshopped! But then House said the photo was real...

Hey! In one of my stories, House badly photohopped Wilson's head onto a picture, in order to cover up the real face that was there... which was Wilson's.

Wonder if House or Lucas did that to the cheerleading picture? That is, if you "peeled off" the House head, underneath you'd see House. Hm.

That had occurred to me too, that House may do something like this. Maybe not even consciously, just sorting out his feelings about his father and about Wilson out loud. If done subtly, that would be fascinating.
Maybe House reports himself as kidnapped and that's why Wilson is arrested. Or maybe the deviousness is pretending he won't go to the funeral BECAUSE he knows that will make Wilson drag him there.
Open caskets freak me out. Yes, I did feel the need to say that.
At my grandfather's funeral the minister said "Though he wasn't a regular churchgoer, he was a deeply religious man who used to read Bible stories to his children." Which totally baffled us, as it wasn't at all true and we're not sure where the minister got the idea from. It's not often you're tempted to laugh during a funeral.

I can't even imagine the eulogy being all about his dad, firstly because House doesn't really care about him, and the show doesn't, either. Secodnly, in House MD, everything is always a metaphor for something else going on in the show.

You're right about it not being likely that the eulogy's about his dad. Until the most recent promo pics came out, I was pretty sure House wouldn't give a eulogy at all. And it still may be that he says something else entirely!

From: [identity profile] daisylily.livejournal.com
And he could do that thing where he stares into Wilson's eyes (even though Wilson is sitting somewhere towards the back of the wherever-they-are) while he says it.

Definitely a good idea, and I hope it happens - it would be typical House :D

I also think there should be a hug (later, not in front of everyone at the funeral, although that would be entertaining, lol). If you think you've 'lost' someone that you love as much as those two love each other, and then get them back, surely a nice manly (cough) hug would be perfectly sensible...

One additional thing - Wilson clearly thinks a lot of House's mom, and taking House to the funeral ("this is for your mother") strikes me as very much something that one half of a couple would do with their husband/wife/partner.
