What if, what if...

What if House gives a eulogy for his father, but it's really all about Wilson?

About not appreciating someone until you lose them; how frustrated he'd make House when he lectured; how House had been horribly annoyed all the times he tried to teach House a lesson but now in restrospect, some of those lessons might have been worth something; how the man had tried to teach him the value and importance of love and it's only now that House can really understand and finally admit his own love for this frustrating, annoying person.

"We haven't been on the best of terms, and the distance between us has been weighing heavily on my mind. If I could have one wish, it'd be to reconcile with him, for both of us to air our differences and admit our faults, and for me to get the chance to tell him how much I really do respect, admire, and love him."

What if?

It'd be good, I think, and could be balanced, too, with House admitting his feelings and calling out Wilson to pony up, as well..

Do we know if Wilson actually stays for the service?

I don't know for sure. I think Wilson would stay for the funeral to be polite to House's mom if nothing else, but on the other hand, one promo had him being handcuffed by a cop. It's possible he's in jail during the service.

Hmmm.

I of course have hopes for this being a productive episode. But the last 4 seasons have taught me that if House does say or do anything poignant, the people who need to witness it most, probably won't, thus ensuring that no one's opinion of House actually changes. The funeral is a plot device to get them in the same car. God help us if they use it to try and make Wilson look like the good guy, for sacrificing himself to deliver House to his mother.

Wilson being arrested makes me laugh, actually. I'm sure it's probably because of something House did, like throwing litter out the window or taking the tags off of his license plate or something that would get Wilson in trouble -because Wilson doesn't break laws, of course. In the preview, House tosses Wilson's keys, meaning he doesn't want to go with Wilson at all. So, my guess is that Wilson being arrested is part of House's ploy to get out of the roadtrip.
