This is what I think David Shore was saying (again): "HOUSE IS A LONE WOLF, GODDAMN IT. A LONE WOLF; HE DOESN'T NEED ANYONE!"

If that wasn't the biggest "fuck you" to every fan who likes EITHER Cuddy or Wilson, I don't know what is. At this moment, House could not be more irredeemable to me.

You put it so perfectly. Even if it's a hallucination, what does it say about House that's what he hallucinates?

I guess Taub's "Pina Colada" ringtone was a lampshading of the ending, which made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. The fanwank will be epic.

At least we won't have to listen to the Huddies anymore.

House being all HAPPY WITH HIMSELF for shitting all over people who care about him really, really pissed me off. David Shore seems to have the idea in his twisted brain that people like House being an Island Unto Himself, Beholden to None, when it's instead the glimpses of human connection that make House bearable.

I was enjoying the episode until that very last scene. Him walking along with a smile. What the fuck? He just does not give a shit about anyone but himself.

I'm thinking that David Shore thinks that people like House to be outrageous, and he's just been pushing it up and up until he got this. Like we're all supposed to be yellow "woo hoo, awesome, he's fulfilling the fantasy of every guy who's ever been dumped, go House!".
Instead, as you say, I can't see how they can redeem him unless he checks himself into rehab or Mayfield. I've seen people speculate that he has a brain tumor or is hallucinating after ODing on vicodin, but I think that would be a huge cop-out.
Lisa Edelstein did the right thing.

That's what I suspect David Shore thinks. So I am very unhappy with David Shore.

What does he think Season Eight can be? That's my question now.

House has done some really crappy things? But for this I wanted him to go rot in prison. Doesn't exactly make me want to tune in next time. It's really gross to push an "It's okay, he was ~*~angry~*~" sort of attitude.

I'm glad LE is gone, because I kind of don't want Cuddy to forgive him.

These are my thoughts. It was the first time I didn't care about him or what happened to him. I felt Wilson's pain of caring for him and then wondering why I bothered?
And then, yeah, with LE gone, or even if she wasn't, I don't know how he could be redeemed and it ruins the early seasons for me knowing what's to come. Stupid tv show.

I even just got mad looking at my House icons.

I don't want Cuddy to forgive him at all. I'm furious that the show forgave him instantly, and that a Season Eight means that Wilson will forgive him, likely for NO REASON WHATSOEVER. House won't do anything to redeem himself, because the show's made it clear that he doesn't have to.

Just had to share this, I went to BB's to see what ridiculous thing she had to say about this episode, but I couldn't get past her first page. I was surprised though that she actually admmitted though that she had problems with the end of ep.

Then I read a few of the comments, and I read the most amazing thing. The car crash was actually Wilson's fault, and Cuddy's too, because they abandoned House when he needed them.

Yes, it was Cuddy and Wilson's fault that House turned into a homicidal lunatic.

There are no words.

What that Wilson did in this episode or any of the ones since the House/Cuddy breakup could be construed as abandoning House?

TPTB pushed it til it broke with that final scene. I could still engender sympathy for House when I thought he was brooding somewhere but for him to be happy with himself...

I wonder if Hugh Laurie picked this month for his European tour on purpose, knowing what an unmitigated asshole House would be in the finale.

I'm going to have to watch the EP again because my knee-jerk reaction is so overwhelmingly negative, it almost doesn't seem fair.

AND I was completely unspoiled(w/the exception of LE leaving the show).

If this was where TPTB told LE the show was going? I know it was due the money, but as an actor, I wouldn't want to go down this 8th season road.

He rejected Wilson. Wilson spent the episode trying to be supportive without enabling House, trying to get House to recognize dangerous things House was doing, trying to get House to deal with feelings before they overwhelmed House.

House then dumped Wilson out of his car, knocked Wilson out of the way (visibly injuring him) on the way toward destroying Cuddy's home, and then walked away with a smile on his face.

A great big "Fuck you for caring about me!"

That's on top of the destroying Cuddy's house and recklessly putting Cuddy and her family in danger of being injured or killed, which Cuddy now reasonably wants House thrown in jail for.

Character-wise, it was, sadly, consistent. The potential for House to go this way was always there. But how House and the show can recover from this--wow. Good luck, writers. I think they may have drove away their remaining viewers.

The crash itself isn't even what I'm so angry about. It's consistent with the kind of reckless mayhem House causes. He never thinks things through, and he never bothers to consider consequences of his actions.

For the show to put him on the beach happy after that, with no guilt, happy that he's severed the connections with people who love him...

I had actually read this yesterday night and promptly forgotten it in the fog of sleepybrain (I actually woke up at 2am to watch the damn ep). I don't know why.

Thanks for alerting me to it. I've written a revoltingly long rant and now I'm going to sleep over it and read it again tomorrow. I envy you for your ability to focus on the essentials. I have the verbose mode permanently switched on.

No need to say how much I agree, I guess. Let me add that imho it was also a giant fuck you to everyone who loves House. And it's a giant fuck you at the end of a very long series. Like a final, gigant turd on a manure heap.

If David Shore really thinks that House was in character in that finale, then I think he's an idiot :/
