This is what I think David Shore was saying (again): "HOUSE IS A LONE WOLF, GODDAMN IT. A LONE WOLF; HE DOESN'T NEED ANYONE!"

If that wasn't the biggest "fuck you" to every fan who likes EITHER Cuddy or Wilson, I don't know what is. At this moment, House could not be more irredeemable to me.

You put it so perfectly. Even if it's a hallucination, what does it say about House that's what he hallucinates?

I guess Taub's "Pina Colada" ringtone was a lampshading of the ending, which made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. The fanwank will be epic.

At least we won't have to listen to the Huddies anymore.

I'm sensing a serious need for ice cream. Think I'll apply it directly to the shark bites.

Have you seen any of this season?

No, I guess the better question is: Do you care if you get spoiled?

I was enjoying the episode until that very last scene. Him walking along with a smile. What the fuck? He just does not give a shit about anyone but himself.

Previously on House: House and Cuddy went out, then Cuddy broke up with House, because she realized she can't make it work with him long term. House responded by checking into a swank hotel, partying, and going back on Vicodin. Then some more episodes happened. Wilson has been trying to be a good friend to both House and Cuddy, but more to House. House has responded by forging Wilson's name on Vicodin prescriptions.

Tonight's episode: Blah, blah, Cuddy and Wilson try to get House to talk about his feelings, but House pounds Vicodin so he can feel numb instead. POTW chooses love over her brain/talent and House yells at her. Then House gets jealous because Cuddy's having dinner with someone who's not him and drives his car INTO CUDDY'S DINING ROOM. He doesn't hit anyone, but as Wilson's jumping out of the way (House had dumped Wilson out of the car onto Cuddy's lawn a few moments earlier), Wilson gets hurt. House says, "See ya," and takes off. Last scene is House having a drink in a tropical beach-side bar and then going for a walk with a huge smile on his face, very pleased with himself.

I don't think he gives a shit about himself, either. And was higher than a kite.

Perhaps some good crack!fic could dull the pain.

House being all HAPPY WITH HIMSELF for shitting all over people who care about him really, really pissed me off. David Shore seems to have the idea in his twisted brain that people like House being an Island Unto Himself, Beholden to None, when it's instead the glimpses of human connection that make House bearable.

Um, well...I don't think I'll be watching this one. I haven't been watching much this season, but I still had hope...

But maybe not. It really makes you wonder why they think people watch the show.

Huh. I'm not sure whether or not I'd prefer that to have all been a hallucination. And wow, they really keep putting the same old plots through the wringer, don't they? I agree, I can't imagine how TPTB plan to redeem him after this, though there's no doubt in my mind they'll be expecting audiences to sympathize with him all over again when next season rolls around.

I'm thinking that David Shore thinks that people like House to be outrageous, and he's just been pushing it up and up until he got this. Like we're all supposed to be yellow "woo hoo, awesome, he's fulfilling the fantasy of every guy who's ever been dumped, go House!".
Instead, as you say, I can't see how they can redeem him unless he checks himself into rehab or Mayfield. I've seen people speculate that he has a brain tumor or is hallucinating after ODing on vicodin, but I think that would be a huge cop-out.
Lisa Edelstein did the right thing.

The scrip-forgery took me totally by surprise. All the rest ... I can only think they're setting the scene for House having a Very Localized Brain Tumor pressing on Some Very Important Brain Region.

Maybe.

THAT WAS A STUPID IDEA

Him not giving a shit about himself is not an excuse.

This trend of "self-loathing" and therefore INCREDIBLY SELFISH AND SELF-OBSESSED male characters on TV I'm looking at you Dean Winchester needs to GTFO already, UGH

Wilson had pointed out in the second ep with Cuddy's Mom (ep. 20?) that he knew House was forging his name at PPTH for Vicodin.

I think I just hit the point where I don't like Greg House any more. Which means I can't watch the damn show.

Ha, the real kicker is, audiences will :| fandom sure seems to lap this type of character up, again and again and again.

That's what I suspect David Shore thinks. So I am very unhappy with David Shore.

What does he think Season Eight can be? That's my question now.

No, I knew that part. What surprised me was Wilson actually standing up and pointing out the obvious -- that both of them could get into real trouble for this, and both of them could end up serving real prison time. That's what I didn't expect.

Which means I can't watch the damn show.

I find House interesting as this guy they've built the show around, but the character I watch for is really Wilson. :-)

That's what I'm wondering!!! We've seen House get away with stuff he never, ever should have gotten away with, usually because Cuddy was protecting him. How can he get away with THIS? There's no pretending there's not a huge hole in Cuddy's house! How can they possibly come up with a way for House not to go jail or rehab or somewhere with bars on the windows???

I watch for Wilson, too, but if he's going to get crapped on in every episode, what's the point?

He'll get crapped on in fewer episodes?

KIDDING! I'M KIDDING!

Seriously, I do think that when the chips were down, House did care about one other person, and that person was Wilson, because House told him to get out of the car.

It may not be much, but it's something.

Also, ♥ ♥ ♥ you.

House has done some really crappy things? But for this I wanted him to go rot in prison. Doesn't exactly make me want to tune in next time. It's really gross to push an "It's okay, he was ~*~angry~*~" sort of attitude.

I'm glad LE is gone, because I kind of don't want Cuddy to forgive him.

These are my thoughts. It was the first time I didn't care about him or what happened to him. I felt Wilson's pain of caring for him and then wondering why I bothered?
And then, yeah, with LE gone, or even if she wasn't, I don't know how he could be redeemed and it ruins the early seasons for me knowing what's to come. Stupid tv show.

I even just got mad looking at my House icons.
