Spoiler & speculation for House next week

Speculation for ep 5-10 and after: I think Wilson is going to undergo Living Donor Liver Transplantation (LDLT) to save the POTW. "The donor's liver will regenerate approaching 100% function within 4–6 weeks and will almost reach full volumetric size with recapitulation of the normal structure soon thereafter," says Wikipedia, so the House team will use the six-week hiatus to be able to totally skip the "Wilson recovering" stage and the first ep in January will have him back to normal (or almost normal).

And for those concerned that RSL might use this to seek a permanent path back to full-time Broadway: "Death after LDLT has been reported at 0% (Japan), 0.3% (USA) and <1% (Europe), with risks likely to improve further as surgeons gain more experience in this procedure."

Yeah, I almost said "upside-down autopsy incision" myself.

I wonder if this is really what Wilson is going to do. Was there any clear indication of it in the promo?

The most detailed description I read on Fox Forum was that the promo ended with Wilson on the table, being prepped for surgery, looking tired and a little scared.

So we don't know for sure that that's where they go, but it would fit in with the "House taking care of Wilson" spoiler that's been floating around for a couple of months.

Was it specifically stated anywhere that this would be liver donor surgery? That's really what I'm asking.

Oh! No, it's never been stated outright. It's the conclusion a lot of folks have leapt to, from how jaundiced the PotW looks.

I've seen other speculation that it's a bone marrow transplant, or some other kind of experimental treatment that perhaps is more dangerous than either a liver or bone marrow procedure. If it's an experimental treatment, that might raise the chances of death and explain why House is all "No, dude, I dun wanna see you die."

ETA that that line is in the Global promo, not the promo U.S. viewers saw. I've been looking for the really detailed post I saw about it (the one that said Wilson looked tired and scared) and I can't find it now. :-(

Well, that -- and the US promo vid that's with it, which I hadn't seen -- is certainly interesting.

House outright saying, "NO, I am NOT okay!" is ... perhaps a first? And isn't that Wilson's camo hat he's wearing when he says it?
