Spoiler & speculation for House next week
Nov. 24th, 2009 08:43 pmSpeculation for ep 5-10 and after: I think Wilson is going to undergo Living Donor Liver Transplantation (LDLT) to save the POTW. "The donor's liver will regenerate approaching 100% function within 4–6 weeks and will almost reach full volumetric size with recapitulation of the normal structure soon thereafter," says Wikipedia, so the House team will use the six-week hiatus to be able to totally skip the "Wilson recovering" stage and the first ep in January will have him back to normal (or almost normal).
And for those concerned that RSL might use this to seek a permanent path back to full-time Broadway: "Death after LDLT has been reported at 0% (Japan), 0.3% (USA) and <1% (Europe), with risks likely to improve further as surgeons gain more experience in this procedure."
Your thoughts?
In unrelated news, who's going to buy Wilson the Mangroomer for Xmas?

Date: 2009-11-25 02:08 am (UTC)Having learned that, I felt better about what Wilson intends to do, and I hope it works and he can save his old friend. Even if I'm somewhat annoyed at the *POOF* sudden appearance of someone Wilson's known long enough and cares for enough to do such a thing. Wilson's already a wreck; he needs not to lose anyone else just now.
As for the Mangroomer, Wilson doesn't need it; no back hair. Maybe poor Taub ...?

Date: 2009-11-25 02:12 am (UTC)I knew liver would re-grow, but I didn't realize how much of the donor organ could be taken. Up to 70%! Wow.
I would have been astounded by the *poof* friend if in "Wilson's Heart" there hadn't been the miraculously appearing friends with dogs that could've given Amber a tick. Those were more shocking to me -- I don't know why.

Date: 2009-11-25 02:20 am (UTC)I'm guessing that this Tucker fellow is someone Wilson knew as a kid, maybe went to high school with, and then they mostly lost touch when they went to college. So they were just reconnecting and, this being the House-verse, of course the guy gets hit with some lethal disease.
