Ausiello had a very, very vague spoiler -- to the degree of "The script is very good," although that's not what was said -- for an upcoming episode of House, and it got me thinking.

Ausielllo said he heard that RSL "should start writing his Emmy speech now" for a specific future episode. If RSL couldn't even get a nomination for "Wilson's Heart," then what could be so dramatic and intense as to get him noticed by Emmy voters? Hm.

This is pure speculation, but what if, guys, what if they have RSL play Danny Wilson in an episode? O_O So many possibilities.

Please don't mention any other spoilers for episodes after 6-4 (the one from Mon 10/5 in the US) in comments.

Yeah, acting judges don't seem to appreciate portrayals of solid, unflappable characters. Even if that is a huge stretch for a particular actor. I'm not saying that's the case for RSL, just... if a character is reasonably healthy, no one seems to factor in the difficulty difference when a character is very different from the actor himself or herself.

I think Emmy voters should be required to watch the actor/actress in the current role and in a previous role, so they can see the difference. HL playing House is impressive; HL playing House contrasted with HL playing George (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_(Blackadder_character)) in Blackadder is flat-out amazing.

The voice cracking and dry wit deliveries alone make RSL an acting genius. So under the radar but so huge at the same time.
