A ha! Realizations about my reaction to tonight's episode :

- How the hell was that a "devious" way to win back Wilson? House didn't do anything to win back Wilson. And there was no planning.

- Why is Lucas going to be "hot on Wilson's trail" next episode, if Wilson made the decision to come back this episode?

- The lie about Amber buying Wilson that keychain was entirely stupid because the sympathy card does not work with House. Wilson knows this. Reflexive guilt-trip lying?

- Why was House arrested? He didn't do anything wrong.

- The assumption Wilson made that House bailed him out because House "cared" is not necessarily true. It's entirely possible House just found a guy who carried around an envelope but wouldn't open it interestingly repressed. It could've been pure boredom that led House to bail him out. Why would Wilson think it better if House cared about a total stranger than if House found a total stranger interesting? It's everything after that that counts.

- And "everything after that" was the reason Wilson gave for leaving, but he said he's coming back because House is fun. So... nothing's changed? House can continue to act the way he's always acted, and it's OK by Wilson? ETA: And Wilson's going to keep on lying and trying to manipulate House instead of being straightforward about his own needs, and that's OK too?

- No flashbacks! Curse you, Washington Post, for saying there would be.

- We ain't never getting a hug. Wilson's pat on House's shoulder, and House's looming over Wilson's are going to be as close as we get. D:<

- Wilson was gorgeous this ep. He looked like a wee puppy when he was trying to talk the cop into letting him go.

I think I need to watch it again.

PS. Hee, hee. Bizarre little thing I predicted in a fanfic: Wilson's trunk o' preparedness!

I predicted something went down between House and his father when he was twelve, and it was even pretty closely worded to what happened in the show. So I'll be riding on this for a week or two.

I had a thought this morning that House would introduce Wilson to his father's military peers as "my special friend," which would be technically true but raise all kinds of eyebrows. Hee.

Wilson was very cute this episode, and House had some good smiles. But I wanted a hug, dang it!

PS. Added more thoughts on the ep above.

Heck, I'm just pleased that my first fic had them meeting within a year of when canon has them meeting. (I had them meeting when Wilson was in his first year of residency.)

I placed Mom and Dad in the wrong state for retirement, but at least I got John's rank right.

Isn't "right out of medical school" first year of residency? So you predicted perfectly. (Is it common to send first-year residents to multi-specialty conferences (because I doubt House was at an oncology conference) with 3000 people?)

Which Lexington do you think they're in?

Lexington, Kentucky, the largest 'Lexington'
Lexington, Massachusetts, the oldest 'Lexington'
Lexington, Alabama
Lexington, Georgia
Lexington, Illinois

It took me a second to realize that Wilson was touching House without House shrugging him away. And then all I could think about was what the congregation full of Marines were thinking. I mean, don't ask, don't tell and all...

This was an amazing House/Wilson night. It was quite an interesting House/Cuddy night, too: not every ship gets to say that they have matching ass injections. :D

The Marines probably didn't think anything of it. Wilson's touch was a very "consoling a friend" touch (and I say that as someone who loves the HoYay, as you know)

I'm betting the reason House didn't shrug him away is that Wilson's bulk provided better cover for what House was doing. :D

Matching ass injections is a very unique thing for a 'ship. Heh.

Yup, yup, yup, ... and yeah, etc.

Why did House get arrested? That made no sense at all.

I guess I'm just grateful for whatever small bits of "real" relationship they give us. I thought the episode was flawed but I'm glad House and Wilson are at least started on the road to reconciliation (I don't think it's as cut-and-dried as TPTB would like us to believe right now).

If only this were on HBO or Showtime -- I think the opportunities for real exposition and character development would be so much greater.

I'm hoping (probably futiley, admittedly) that some of the rest of this (at least the "devious" thing, anyway) will be addressed in the next episode in some way related to the Lucas following him thing. I seem to remember some interview somewhere that mentioned there'd be "false starts" or something like that in their make-up, so maybe there'll still be some hurdles on the way even if they've mostly thawed.

Which if you think about it, makes tons of sense. You need to start somewhere, and this arc continues from another four or five episodes. However, I think for the "normal" viewer -- you know, crazy folks that don't do boards and fandom -- it was more reassurance that Wilson will be back. After the third episodes, where there wasn't any Wilson, my mother turned to me and said, "So what movie is Wilson doing that he's not on the show anymore?"

I loved this episode. I actually watched it in "real time" for once and then rewound the House, Wilson scenes while the commercials were running.

I'm also a little disappointed that Wilson gave up so much, so fast. But I loved the scene in the diner, where he's telling House, "I didn't know I was going to do that. Did you know I was going to do that?" Maybe House did, maybe he didn't. But definitely not boring.

I had to watch the Canadian election results tonight, but I'm so looking forward to seeing this when it airs tomorrow night! I do hope they don't just go back to it being the way it was, that we see them continue to work on their friendship.
So, if House and Wilson have been friends for 15 years, how did they both end up at PPTH? Has canon been rewritten again?

Well, BOO to lack of hugging, although at least we did get a bit of close contact. *grump*

I wondered why House got arrested too, and assumed it was some kind of US-law-related thing, but clearly it isn't. Before he got arrested I was thinking he'd just get carted off with Wilson because he couldn't drive (being groggy - although no idea whether he was the slightest bit groggy by then; it's just what my brain thought at the time), so I was intrigued by him being arrested.

I absolutely loved that Wilson has TWO flashlights in his trunk, and the looks on both HL's and RSL's faces at that point in the scene made it even better.

I also adored Chase's suggestion that House's mom would believe that a gift was really from House if they chose a coffin-shaped cookie (and lol at Cam still being the one who does those sort of things on House's behalf). (They should have sent balloons like the ones you sent me, only saying SORRY YOU'RE DEAD.)

I have no idea why Lucas will need to do anything Wilson-related next episode, unless Wilson has some very very weird 'secret' from his two months away. Having watched the promo, it appears that the next ep contains mostly Foreman and 13zzzzzzzzzzz, although if House really does fire her I'd be very happy because she is BORING (bet that's just a promo-monkey trick though) so not sure where there would be time for Lucas to go fishing.

I loved the way that the cop was all SRS BZNSS until Wilson mentioned House trying to get out of the funeral, and then turned immediately into GO TO THE FUNERAL AT ONCE.

House won back Wilson by showing him why his reasons to leave House were just based on fear of loss. Not sure of the devious/planning thing though. I'm assuming House just wants more info about Wilson, no idea why though. House was arrested maybe for backtalking with the cop and just being difficult. I suppose House would care by not wanting someone he found interesting to be in jail? Actually caring about someone being in jail or not is something.

Sucks about the flashbacks though :( Maybe someday! Same with the hug, not the right moment I'm guessing. We still have four more seasons or close to that left! The touching we did get was wonderful though but then again, I'm desparate.

And, just to spam you...I loved how Wilson said to Blythe, that she knew her son better than he did--and then he sees right through House's alligator tears whereas his mom sat utterly confused.

At first I thought the "fear of loss" reason came out of left field. Now I think--Wilson has almost lost House three times (four if you count "Wilson's Heart"). It's a valid reason for why Wilson pushed House away.

And I'm :-(((( that there was no hug. I want my hug, dammit!

ITA, ITA, ITA, and oh yeah, ITA. :D I love your post-ep posts. I always surf journals for good ones whenever a new episode airs, and always love yours. <3

Wilson was stunning. Mm, I love him. ...That's not news. Ha.

And "everything after that" was the reason Wilson gave for leaving, but he said he's coming back because House is fun. So... nothing's changed? House can continue to act the way he's always acted, and it's OK by Wilson?

Hear, hear. I hate that despite the awesome of this ep, the "reconciliation" was such a let down for me. I really, really hope it's not over yet. House's theory about why Wilson was leaving rings false for me--besides, I thought why Wilson was leaving was made pretty clear at the end of DCE, and I was satisfied, even happy, with that and looking forward to House doing something for Wilson for once. I don't think "still not boring" and "this is fun" is enough, taking into account horrors such as the Tritter arc. They either have mutual fun, which would be fine on its own, the both of them benefiting from it equally, or they have unhappy mutual destructiveness, and lows like most of season three. I don't think occasional "fun" like the cafe differential makes up for all that so completely. :(

But, I'd be fine with all this if the next eps don't leave this "reconciliation" as a be-all-end-all and address the reasons Wilson gave for leaving. That's what I'm hoping for, but not expecting. I don't want to get high hopes dashed anymore, so I officially declare that I expect nothing to change and for them to go right back to how they were in MLC and Family and Whac-a-Mole and the rest of season three. XD Anything would have to be better than that, right? LOL
