I think it's because my sister and I watched them on the same night. Grr, I can picture the boy and the scene and even another movie he was in where he was a photographer, but I can't remember his name or the title.

Keep thinking; there's no hurry.

The two movies totally match; it's the tone. Pessimistic, depressed even, with small moments of levity that break through.
