Movie quotes. Because [livejournal.com profile] bironic made it look fun. Hint: I tended toward comedies, and guilty pleasure flicks.

[livejournal.com profile] hi_falootin had better play, because nobody else will know a particular one of these... - Wow! More people knew the film than I thought.

1. I'm a short... fat... slut. [Hint - Second quote from same movie: "You said moms don't leave!"]
[Third quote from the movie: "What can I get you that you don't already have?" - "A little girl."] (Overboard, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] poeia)

2. Give him a hand; he's British. (Galaxy Quest, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] cryptictac)

3. Rambo? Rambo's a pussy. [Hint - In this movie, Teri Hatcher proves she can't dance.] (Tango & Cash, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] fry_addict)

4. Did you pay the gravity bill this morning? (Threesome, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] cryptictac and [livejournal.com profile] theninth)

5. Chief, you can take this job, and you can shovel it. [Hint - "Shovel" is really the word she said.] (Demolition Man, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] tasha_elizabeth)

6. You even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father. (Parenthood, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] theninth and [livejournal.com profile] cryptictac)

7. Your step-mom is cute, though ... Remember when I asked her to the prom? (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] cryptictac, [livejournal.com profile] theninth, and [livejournal.com profile] hannahrorlove)

8. Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in, outside of soccer. (Dogma, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] hannahrorlove)

9. -These are O.R. scrubs. -Oh, are they? (Rushmore, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] xaipw)

10. Can he swing from a web? No, he can't; he's a pig.(The Simpsons Movie, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] tripperfunster, [livejournal.com profile] theninth, and [livejournal.com profile] hannahrorlove)

Oh man, some of those sound familiar, but I fail at quotes! The only one I'm sure of is #10. The Simpson's movie. :D

Yep! I have to say, I didn't find that part funny at first (there'd been so much hype about it), but it grew on me. XD

"This episode was badly written!"

"Maybe you're the plucky comic relief - ever think of that?"

LOLOL - I adore that movie. It is a thing of such shiny self-contained beauty.

Galaxy Quest is so awesome. I worked in a cinema in London when that movie came out, so I sat in it all the time for free, just to watch it over and over, LOL.

Have you seen the DVD? One of the languages you can dub into the movie is Thermian.

I love imagining a couple of young interns on the movie production getting totally hammered and recording that track. (Don't know if that's true but it's funny to imagine it might be.)

Awesome! You're of course correct on all three.

Can't believe you've seen Threesome; I thought nobody had. Have you read [livejournal.com profile] hi_falootin's fanfic for it? She nails Eddie. I mean, his character. LOLOL

While it's been a long time since I've seen it, I love that movie.

She nails Eddie. I mean, his character.

LOL. XD I'll have to give that fic a look-see.

And #6 is Parenthood, I just realised (another one of my favourite movies of all time), but I see that one's been guessed already.

Woo hoo, another person who knows Threesome! [livejournal.com profile] hi_falootin's fanfic for it is incredible...

#6 and #7 - I don't like Keanu Reeves, but I quoted him twice in a row. Heh.

Love, love, love the timing on #9. I quote that to myself all the time and always crack up. Do you want a hint? If so, see [livejournal.com profile] bironic's comment right below.

9 is that movie with that kid. LOL. The one I always confuse with Election. Gah, what was it called.

10 sounds like it should be Charlotte's Web or Babe or something, but ... possibly not. ETA: Yep, never mind on that one. :D

I think it's because my sister and I watched them on the same night. Grr, I can picture the boy and the scene and even another movie he was in where he was a photographer, but I can't remember his name or the title.

Keep thinking; there's no hurry.

The two movies totally match; it's the tone. Pessimistic, depressed even, with small moments of levity that break through.

I'd say #2 could be from "Tango & Cash" (Teri's in it, and it would've been a nice side blow on Sylvester Stallone)

(no subject)

Date: 2008-02-12 05:45 pm (UTC)

YES! She's supposed to be doing a strip act, and it's just absolutely horrid. Sylvester Stallone himself says the quote I gave. *rolls eyes*

I suppose I should be embarrased to even have seen that movie, much less -- ehem -- own it, but the prison scenes are so hilariously camp and slashy. Like every lesbian prison film ever made, but with men in it instead.

No need for embarrassment - I've seen it, too (years ago, but still). Although owning it, hmm... well, you called the most excellent reason: lesbian prison with men in it - godsend for every slasher's heart :D

I don't have a DUH icon so I shall use Foreman instead - he's rolling his eyes at me, because I have seen some of those films (and I only saw The Simpsons Movie at Christmas) and I still don't recognise any of those quotes XD

Even #10, which should be completely obvious, isn't...

Never ask me to join a movie trivia quiz unless it's on the other team :D

P.S. I absolutely adore Galaxy Quest

You got it! It's very trashy, but I love it. Actually, I was surprised to have two Sylvester Stallone movies on my list, because I hate him. But he's funny in Demolition Man and appropriately brooding in Tango & Cash, so... oh well. XD

The in-joke part being that you and your college friends liked really crappy movies? (To see it once, I understand. To own a copy...)

So you have your generic Goldie Hawn movie -- shallow, spoiled woman finally grows up (Pvt Benjamin, Overboard, Protocol, etc.) but where is your generic male version of that -- a Tom Cruise film?

(no subject)

Date: 2008-02-13 01:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deelaundry.livejournal.com
Tom Cruise, pah.

I love Overboard; it's my favorite guilty-pleasure movie. Don't like any other Goldie Hawn movies at all -- this one just happens to push all the right buttons for me. It's like cotton candy: very sweet, light, fluffy, no nutritional value but very cheering.

There's something tender to it, too, underneath the yuk-yuks. When the kid runs after the limo yelling, "You said moms don't leave!" I sniffle every single time.
