She hugs him tight and lets him cry on her shoulder when Amber is dying. She asks him to be a character reference when she's adopting Rachel, which I don't think she would do if she hated him. There's an episode where it's mentioned (by House?) that Wilson has dinner with Cuddy on ... Tuesdays? Wednesdays? Some night of the week. She invites him to Rachel's brit bat (the episode where we get to see him and Chase wearing yarmulkes). She apparently holds his job open after he resigns following Amber's death. He apparently feels welcome to gift Rachel with a gigantic plush duckie.
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. :D
Oh, ETA that she voted against Vogler's motion to fire him in "Babies and Bathwater."
Thank you! I wanted to know where she acted as a friend to him. Because we know Wilson will do kind things to people he doesn't even know ($100 hoagie for a stranger; staying with a lonely confused lady at a bus stop). In the examples you gave, there are two that fit what I'm looking for: - She hugs him tight and lets him cry on her shoulder when Amber is dying. - She apparently holds his job open after he resigns following Amber's death.
If you think of anything else, let me know! *hugs hugs hugs*
(nods) She held his job for a mindboggling FOUR MONTHS after Amber died. Also, when Wilson brought a gift for Rachel she commented that he doesn't need to bring a gift every time he visits, which suggests that that's exactly what he did. To Nightdog's list I'd add: Wilson said he was "part of the ceremony" of Rachel's brit bat, which suggests to me that Cuddy was including him as a part of the family and not just a guest. (Disclaimer: I'm not Jewish so my interpretation may be wrong.) She warned Wilson off dating Amber out of concern he'd be hurt. She talked him into waking Amber up to say goodbye to her before she died. She forgave him for buying the loft out from under her. In the episode where House was playing Cuddy and Wilson off each other to spend time alone, she was willing to give up seeing her boyfriend on her birthday so he could cheer up Wilson.
These perhaps aren't exactly "Cuddy being a friend to Wilson", but do indicate that she considers him a friend: She considered asking him to father her child. She's confided in him and asked for his advice on numerous occasions. The ones that come to mind are when she was crying after House insulted her mothering ability in S3, when she had trouble bonding with Rachel, when she found the loft, '5 to 9', and telling Wilson that she slept with her father's best friend. She trusts him. When she thought she had cancer it was Wilson she turned to to perform the ultrasound. Also, in her 1950s dream she envisioned Wilson as the milkman. The director (I think it was the director) said that that dream was Cuddy's fantasy of the ideal life, "where Wilson is never far away".
