deelaundry: man reading in an airport with his face hidden by the book (Default)
[personal profile] deelaundry

Because it's Sauty, I've now done the 5 ?s meme:

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Or which two guys you'd like to watch make out. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, ask them five questions.

1.What do you want to be when you grow up? Why?
In a threesome with two men, because hot. If you’re talking about work – I have no idea. Not what I’m actually getting paid to do, is about all I know.

2. What is the meaning of your SN? I always picture you as a mom that's constantly doing laundry --when you not writing slash and watching House. :)
Nothing to do with clothing at all. As I was looking to post my first Housefic, I started with an SN related to my real-life name. My husband politely pointed out that perhaps we didn’t want everyone to know I write pr0n. So I picked instead “Dee Laundry” – where Dee is short for “Dirty.” It’s lame, and no one seems to get it, but it makes me laugh from time to time.

3.What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to other people? It doesn't have to be anything profound, just something that really irks you.
People who change things for no reason. I am not anti-change, but I am anti-confusion.

4. When did you start writing? Have you written any fiction outside of fandoms? Was H/W the first pairing to truly inspire you?
Hey! You snuck in three questions there! I’ve enjoyed creative writing since I was in middle school decades ago, but didn’t start doing it extensively (obsessively) until last July. H/W was not the first slash pairing I loved by any stretch of the imagination, but they were the first to inspire me to write fanfic.

Would you be interested in seeing any of my old original fic? I think I have some from college – although I haven’t looked at it in ages.

5. What are some random things that make you happy? They can be anything --bands, foods, writers, family members, things that you collect, etc.
My kids (often), my husband (when he tries), House, Wilson, House, House/Wilson, slash in general, spirited and intelligent debate/conversation, robust AUs that make me think, logic puzzles, Stargate Atlantis, how insanely complicated and dense the plot has become on Big Love, Family Feud, cheddar cheese, green olives, birthday cake, candy.

extra credit: Just what is it about slash....????
I don't really expect an answer to that. It's so complex that it could be the subject of a damned dissertation. But, you know, I felt like I had to ask
It’s HOT. Seriously. The element of the hidden used to be a strong part of the appeal, but after watching QAF-US, I’ve determined that I just like strong hot guys getting it off together.

1. As an artist, what's the most interesting feature of Wilson's face (and why)?
2. How long have you studied art?
3. How many movies have you seen this year, and what was your favorite?
4. What's the best holiday?
5. What challenge would you most like to conquer?

1. Do you use anything special for your passwords or PINs? Not asking for the PIN itself, just what it means to you, if anything. (Ex.: My PIN is usually the last four digits of the phone number of my best friend from high school.)
2. Why won't you write fluffy H/W slash?
3. For a month, you have to give one of these up: internet or karaoke. Which one, and why?
4. Imagine having a peak experience, as defined by Maslow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_experiences). What would you be doing at that time?
5. What sort of silly things make you laugh with joy?

Regarding QAF: Ben/Michael or Brian/Michael?

From: [identity profile] deelaundry.livejournal.com
Brian/Justin, all the way. Michael's kind of annoying. But he's happy with Ben, so Ben/Michael is good.

Please do not get me started on the final episode of QAF-US, though. What the producers did to Brian is the worst screw-over a character ever got at the end of his series, tied with Sam Beckett in Quantum Leap. Grrr.

Did you want five questions?

Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only H/W shipper against Brian/Michael. I see the paralells, but the key difference is that they're well-adjusted enough for other people. I like Michael, but those two clearly want different things out of life. Brian should have moved with Justin to New York... alas. It's all good though, because I watch QAF 90% so I can oggle Mel.

If you have them sure. I was just commenting to comment, but it'd be fun to hear what you come up with for me.

5. What's the happiest memory of your childhood?

1) I'm going to ignore the bitter crap that has left Meg and I not talking since that OkCupid post I mad in April and discuss another friend
Ahem. Karl... ohhh Karl. Karl is a friend of mine that I was in high school band with, then went to Iowa State with. His is the longest friendship I've maintained contact with over the years. He's a fricking genius, attractive in a nerdy version of Jake Gyllenthal way, idealistic but in a pragmatic way. He's going into biotechnology, and I'm pretty sure he holds the answer to the energy crisis. Most of all, I don't think he realizes all this, he's incredibly shy and modest. AND FOR SOME REASON SINGLE. I DON'T GET IT, WOMEN SHOULD BE JUMPING ALL OVER HIM. And for some reason, we mesh really well. It's very Will and Grace, except that I'm Will. The only weird thing about us is how little he knows about my past, considering I'm comfortable talking about some of the stuff online and not with a guy I've know for 7 years. Meh.

2) Wilson is so normal on the surface, but when you peel back the onion you find so much. I feel like I know him so well, yet I keep trying to solve the puzzle. His persona's a lot like the one I use in politics. That, and RSL's role in Dead Poets Society made me wake up and realize I needed to leave Iowa State for good, so I pretty much love anything he does.

3) MEL IS A SASSY BITCH AND I LOVE HER FOR IT! Umm, it's a tough one, but Catherine Zeta-Jones. I have watched Zorro more times than I care to divulge.

4) Real life. People put up acts IRL and I like to figure them out.

5) Honestly, there were some good times, but... I've blocked them out to make the decisions I've had to make for my own well-being easier. That probably sounds callous, but yeah.

OMG. I've got to butt in on this conversation. I hated the end of QAF. First of all, I found it hard to believe that Justin would leave. Brian went through so much character development and TPTB just chucked it out the door. I get grouchy even thinking about it!
I'm not into Brian/Michael, but I dislike Ben/Michael. They're just so annoying.

I'm addicted to Big Love as well. I've never seen Stargate Atlantis, though. Is it slashy?

And yes, I'd love to read some of your original fiction.

DON'T TALK ABOUT THAT! I almost wept, seriously, at the end of the last episode. FUCKERS! They made Brian grow and change, and leave behind what he'd stood for all along, and he's done it, believably, and then at the end ZWOOP they pull the rug out from under him and MAKE HIM DANCE ALONE. Michael gets his sweet happy ending and BRIAN GETS TRAPPED FOREVER IN SHALLOW LAND. IT MAKES ME HULK-LIKE WITH RAGE.

Same fury with the end of Quantum Leap - Sam's done nothing but try and make people's lives better, and what's his reward? HE NEVER GETS TO GO HOME.

FLAMES. FLAMES SHOOTING UP THE SIDE OF MY FACE.

Oh, wait, Sauty, you asked about pet peeves. #1: The Prodigal Son. You've read that story, right? What the fuck did the prodigal son get such a warm welcome for? Why the hell did the dutiful son get the shaft? Good people getting screwed over, that's my pet peeve.

Stargate Atlantis is middling on the slashy scale when it comes to the actual show, but HOO BOY is the fanfic slashy. Whew.

Will try to type up one of my stories from college this weekend.

1. In creating an AU, what's the more interesting part of the process: research or writing?
2. Where did you get the icon you used for your comment here?
3. Do you remember what made you first realize you had sexual feelings?
4. What accomplishment are you most proud of?
5. What's something fun that you really enjoy doing?

Given that I already did a post for these, I feel no guilt in answering your questions here.

1. The research, no question about it. I approach writing an AU the way I write anything else, which is to make sure that the story holds up, the characters sound like themselves, the descriptions aren't overblown, that sort of thing. It's enjoyable, but it's also labor of a sort. Imaginary research, though, is so much fun and yes, more interesting. I get a lot of delight out of building something up from nothing to the point where it can stand on its own.

2. My friend [livejournal.com profile] aureliapriscus made it for me. The source picture is here (http://pics.livejournal.com/hannahrorlove/pic/0038ryea/g43), and the quote on the t-shirt comes from here (http://www.fametracker.com/fame_audit/knoxville_johnny.php). I thought it would be amusing to have an icon with that quote as everyone can have that term apply to oneself at some time or another.

3. No. I don't remember when exactly I linked the concept of sex to myself having a desire to engage in the act. But I do remember the first time I thought about gay sex without anyone telling me what it was - I was in the backseat of the family car, trying to imagine how two men would have sex because one of them wouldn't have a vagina. I settled on them rubbing their penes together. I couldn't have been more than eight at the time.

4. It'll probably sound very odd, as nothing's come of it yet, but the idea I have for this original piece of fiction - it remains unfinished, and I haven't worked on it for a while, but it's still very clear in my mind what I want to do with it, if not how I accomplish that. I have a few bits under this tag (http://hannahrorlove.livejournal.com/tag/original+fiction:+goslings).

5. Swimming. It's been too long since I've gotten into a body of water where I have the capability of splashing around and getting underwater for the joy of doing so; usually I get into pools to swim laps.

You may find these annoying. Just a warning.

1. Would you please consider posting more Church drabbles? You bring a perspective I could not write in a million years, and I gobble them down like bon-bons.
2. What's the plot of one of your top five favorite movies?
3. What do you find easiest to do when dealing with other people? (Ex. I find it easiest to present to other people (or train them), because in that case I get to be the Miss Smarty Pants Know-it-all - gives me a natural edge and confidence.)
4. If every job in the entire world paid the same, what job would you want?
5. At what age are kids the most fun to interact with?

Coming up with questions is hard. I apologize if you've already talked about any of these.

1. What's your favorite TV show of all time?
2. If you got to have a fantasy threesome (and were not dating your boyfriend) who would you have it with?
3. What's the best thing to do on a Sunday afternoon?
4. How do you take your coffee?
5. Who's the coolest superhero?

Bonus: Are there any writers you like, except for the way they write sex scenes?
Bonus #2: What detail(s) do female writers typically leave out when writing male characters?
