I've never seen a single episode of Stargate:Atlantis but am really getting into McKay/Sheppard fanfic.  Go figure.

Anybody have any to recommend?

HAHAHAHAHA. There is so much good McKay/Sheppard out there it's kind of ridiculous. If you have some idea of what you're looking for (crack, romance, AU, adventure), I can point you in the direction of my favorites in those.

The only one that I think that should be mandatory for everyone in fandom is Freedom's Just Another Word For Nothing Left To Lose (http://www.kekkai.org/synecdochic/sga/freedoms_just_another_word.html). I think it may be my favoritest story in fandom, period.

Nooooo. Beckett/McKay is the only way to go!
(Also, watch Atlantis. It's awesome)

I can't think of any offhand, but if you have a free evening, [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine has a bunch of SGA stories recommended here (http://thefourthvine.livejournal.com/tag/stargate:%20atlantis).

All of them! Yeah, that's horrible, innit, but I really don't have a favorite genre. Well-written and at least a little bit sexy.

Of course, my OTP is McKay/House because of you, but McKay/Sheppard is working too.

Who's Caldwell? Is he played by Mitch Pileggi? Gal, you've got it bad.

OK, OK, I'll try to find some episodes. S3 of House is over in a few weeks : ( so maybe I'll fill some time with SGA.

AWESOME! My husband is going out of town next week and I will have my late evenings totally free. Somehow I sense I won't be getting much sleep... Thanks.

Yes...and yes, I do. =D

Colonel Steven Caldwell first appears in the first ep of the second season. Isn't it sad that I know that? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Caldwell_(Stargate))

Heh, House is only six episodes in here. Loooong way to go. But yes, it's definitely worth watching SGA. It's incredibly well written.

A lack of sleep in the name of fandom is a common affliction, and totally excusable.

If you think your internet connection can support it, I can point you to some Stargate episode communities.

Okay! Some of my favorites from a smattering of genres though it's probably very biased toward AUs:

AUs:

No Refunds Or Exchanges (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/No%20Refunds%20Or%20Exchanges.html) - John is a mail-order bride. Seriously. Just read it.

Take Clothes Off As Directed (http://www.helenish.net/asdirected.shtml) - An odd sort of AU where sexuality is looked at differently than it is here.

Roads Never Lead Where They're Supposed to Go (http://eleveninches.livejournal.com/228228.html) - A long, cracktastic AU with John as a botanist and dinosaurs.

Wide Open Ocean (http://setissma.livejournal.com/502555.html) - Gorgeous Aquarium AU.

Awesomely funny:

The Physicist Bride (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/167394.html) by the always awesome [livejournal.com profile] queenzulu, which is SGA smoking The Princess Bride and therefore AWESOME.

Advantage (http://trickster.org/res/advantage.html) - John gets kind of turned into a slave. Kind of.

Back on Earth fic:

Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Denver.html) - This is just good. I think it's just so awesome.

Weapons Of Some Distraction (http://shrift.livejournal.com/144919.html) - the boys being boys and geeks.

Proof (http://www.livejournal.com/users/devildoll/688445.html) - John thinks Rodney has dumped him.

God, I haven't even started on the "Aliens made them do it" fic yet, either.

Heh.

I've only got a couple of stories mem'd so far but here they are:

For This One Wish (http://community.livejournal.com/sgfortunecookie/1312.html)
Lex Talionis (http://of-evangeline.livejournal.com/389102.html)

There are also a couple of 'Net communities I keep an eye on:

Area 52 (http://www.area52hkh.net/pairlist.php?pairings[]=McKay/Sheppard&sora=S&sortby=Stories&sortorder=DateDesc&storycount=1066&offset=0) -- the link will take you to the McKay/Sheppard pairings list of stories.

Also: That Particular Month (http://runpunkrun.livejournal.com/tag/that+particular+month), which is like an entire month where [livejournal.com profile] runpunkrun wrote one McKay/Sheppard fic per day, just about, and they're all funny and cute and awesome.

Frankly, anything and everything McShep by Pru (http://rageprufrock.wordpress.com) or Trinity (http://trinityofone.livejournal.com). Oh and the SGA fandom have this weird tradition of people turning into animals/plants/glowing squids and being inappropriate whilst in those forms.

LOL, me too, originally. Of course, that hasn't actually proven sufficient incentive yet... Gah, I don't even have Skinner icons any more.

Post: well, I used to love [livejournal.com profile] xanthelj's fic when she was in XF, but she's moved off into SGA now. She tends to write long, plotty things, generally always NC-17 and often heavy on the bdsm as well. If that's your thing XD

Hee, I read her LJ. I love her XF fics too. M/Sk is my favorite but I love M/K too or sometimes all three.

OMG YOUR ICON IS PERFECT

THAT ICON IS ADORABLE. Ahem *g*

I always had a secret weakness for Sk/K actually, although there was never really enough of that. All three is nice, too. Mmmmm...

I finally read "Freedom..." yesterday and was an absolute wreck afterwards. Really brilliant work. But Dee -- someone else somewhere else mentioned that this may be a story best left for after you're more familiar with fanon/canon, so you can appreciate all the possible stories behind/before what's going on in "Freedom" itself (which takes place after canon ends).

Yay SGA! I recommend this primer (http://community.livejournal.com/rec_room/248780.html) at the [livejournal.com profile] rec_room, which has about a dozen links to fics (mostly John/Rodney) to help people who haven't seen the show get acclimated to who the characters are. "Small Primes and Square Roots," "Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose," "Intersections" and the AU by Pru whose title I can't remember are all on there, and they're all just wonderful, though three are AU and "Freedom," as I mentioned above, *may* be better if you save it for a little while.

When I started reading SGA knowing zip about anything, I started with Resonant's work (http://www.trickster.org/res/), and then Speranza's (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/atlantis.html) ("Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead" stands out in my memory). Auburn (http://www.eternalvox.net/%7Eauburn/fiction.html)'s "The Taste of Apples" is fantastic sci fi and fanfic too.

So many recs, so little time!

Good recs! There are a few on there I want to check out now. :) And as far as aliens made them do it, there's always Ellex42's five-post partial listing (!) in Memories here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=ellex42&keyword=Aliens+made+them+do+it&filter=all).

Yeah, It does work better when you understand fandom, arguably, but it was totally the first thing I read when I entered fandom, and it was the thing that made me keep looking afterward. Arguably, I missed some things the first time around, but I still will rec it to anyone anywhere.
