[personal profile] deelaundry
From [personal profile] elynittria Comment and I'll give you three of your icons and three of your interests to explain.

Here's what she asked me to explain:

This is a picture I found on the Web.  It's for a fic I've had in the works for months now, about two men who meet each other and find out eventually just how much they have in common.  It was surprisingly hard to find a decent picture with two unknown men in it that could be made into an icon.  I like how it turned out.

This is one of my few "personal" icons made from an actual picture of something in my life.  This was taken by a four-year old, and I like the perspective and lines in it.

This is a screencap from a scene I saw on Youtube (was directed there by someone from TWOP), in which a male doctor pulls his leather-jacketed boyfriend into an empty hall and kisses him thoroughly.  It's fun to pretend that it's House and Wilson even though it's really not.

Interests:

keller/beecher:  Chris Keller (Christopher Meloni) and Toby Beecher (Lee Tergesen) from Oz...  Canon slash - HoYes!  The characters were unbelievably screwed up, but they made out so hotly, and I always felt like Meloni and Tergesen were playing them straight.  I don't mean straight sexually; I mean they were trying to play these insane characters honestly, with no 'wink wink I'm really not like this' affectation.  (Did I mention that Keller and Beecher are exactly what House and Wilson would be in prison, if House was a serial killer and Wilson had kids?  Seriously.  I'm not kidding.)

oz:  See keller/beecher above.  A violent, sexy melodramatic show on HBO with a lot of dick.  A LOT of dick.  Unfortunately, not all of it was sexy, but you can't have everything.  I wave my arms in triumph that I talked [personal profile] daasgrrl into giving this show a try.

house/wilson:  Oh, come on, does anyone on my f-list need me to explain my interest in this?  If I get divorced any time soon, H/W will be named as a third party, no doubt.

I've wanted to try Oz for a while; HBO seems to be where it's at for long-running stories these days.

It's violent and melodramatic but intriguing. Certain characters I found boring, but when you've got the DVD you can fast forward over any parts you find dull.

Chris Meloni is totally the sex. Totally. He doesn't show up until later though. But it's OK because Riley is also the sex.

Given that the series is finished, I have no problems adding it to my list of things to watch in the near future.

And feel free to ask me to explain some things.

Gin-soaked boy is an icon of Neil Hannon, lead singer, songwriter, and founder of the band The Divine Comedy. The caption is also the title of the first song of the band that I heard; here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/5u7s1h) is a copy. It's one of the catchiest songs I've ever heard as well as one of the most cheerful. The source picture of Hannon is here (http://pics.livejournal.com/hannahrorlove/pic/0048er7d).

Doctor Who #10 is a picture of David Tennant, the tenth actor to play the character of Doctor Who. I found it while randomly searching around Livejournal, and picked it up because it made me laugh and more often than not works to illustrate my own feelings about sex.

In the sun is from this (http://icondesperence.livejournal.com/19204.html) icon post. I'm a big fan of non-fandom icons, and I like to use my icons as a sort of portable moodtheme, so I took this one for the more melancholy posts and responses.

lascivious fruit-eating is the act of eating fruit in a manner that is designed to provoke lust in those watching the eating. A general rule of thumb is the juicier the fruit is, the better it works.

space tingles is something I heard a while ago that refers to the feeling a person can get when they look up at the stars on a clear night and really think about how vast the universe is. They're like goosebumps, but smaller. I sometimes go to meteor showers with my dad and brothers, and that's where I tend to experience these.

sufficient garlic is the state of having enough garlic to accomodate for one's current needs. There have been many times in my life when I've had insufficient garlic.

I just watched the first series of OZ, only to discover that that's the only series available on lovefilm to rent. I want more!

Schillinger/Beecher upset me a lot, so I'm glad to hear that Beecher gets something better.

It's definitely better than Schillinger/Beecher, without actually being healthy. Pah, when has healthy ever been fun?

From: [identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com
If his descent into madness in the first series carries on into the second, I'm not sure Beecher would know healthy if it bit him on his swastika'd arse, but anything has to be better than Schillinger. That whole thing made my skin crawl.

What an incredible show though. I was never really sure that it qualified as 'entertainment' but I did love all 8 episodes.

I really liked the icon of the two guys (I'm a sucker for fedoras). The perspective on the chair was very different—that's so cool that the photo was taken by a 4-year-old! He or she has a shining career in art or photography to look forward to.

Oh, come on, does anyone on my f-list need me to explain my interest in this?

Hee! Well, I had a limited amount of choices! I figured you could always write about the first episode where the H/W goodness captured your mind and heart or something along those lines.

I've got to find that movie; it sounds interesting.

Did I tell you that I think the House characters like to roleplay Oz?
House = Schillinger and Keller
Wilson = Beecher
Cuddy = Riley

The fellows have their roles forced on them by House:
Foreman: Adebisi and all other black characters (although they skip the Said scenes)
Chase: Mukada and Riley's brother
Cameron: Sister Pete and all other women

Damn damn damn. At least you have the icon, I suppose...

hypocrisy

I think I must have seen this on somebody else's profile and decided to rob it. But I do always think that too much is made of the hypocrisy of politicians and so on. I think you can have integrity and still be a complete homicidal maniac (cf. Hitler, etc). And if ever I'm accused of being hypocritical I just say "that's something of an ad hominem argument, isn't it?", which is always fun.

raspberries

What's not to love about raspberries? I just ate a load of raspberries with some Greek yoghurt. It was lovely. I have listed them as an interest for the sake of it, frankly.

c.r.a.z.y

This is a French-Canadian film. You could call it a 'coming out story', but that would be to oversimplify it. Marc-André Grondin (http://es.geocities.com/missscalamity/marc.jpg) is in it, which is A Good Thing, and it's full of ideas and good music and, you know, homoerotic sexual tension. I saw it twice. It made me cry. It's very good.

fight the spoon

This is based on the homoerotic bit of this short. (http://www.spatulamadness.com/short.html) It... has spatulas in it. Or that may be 'spatulae', I'm not sure. Also, I find the word 'spoon' inexplicably hilarious.

fic cliche 8

This is based on a scene from QAF UK. Vince has just got back from a date with an accountant, but he's actually in love with Stuart, and Stuart is trying to avoid having to shag his married client, so when Vince walks in he kisses him, and Vince says "I'm stocking up on this aftershave". How many times have we seen something similar in a fic? I bet that RTD (the writer) ships House/Wilson as well, if he watches the show. And hangs around on the community. It seems like exactly the kind of thing he would do.

gaugin/van gogh, le otp

I read a book about their relationship (their "friendship", that is) - The Yellow House, by Martin Gayford. It didn't actually say that they were at it like rabbits, but Vincent did sneak up on Paul in the middle of the night and hover over his bed, and then scuttle off when he woke up, and in my twisted mind that can only mean one thing.

I didn't know what gender 'OTP' would have in French, so I made it up.

Just looking at your responses, and got really, really excited, because we are JUST NOW talking about Gaugin and Van Gogh in my Art History class, and they are officially my real-life slash OTP. I mean, Van Gogh cuts off his ear after a huge fight with Gaugin wherein Gaugin stops living with him? SERIOUSLY. It's love.

I know, how could anybody NOT see it? I can understand that Paul felt he needed to leave, but poor Vincent. Paul wasn't even sorry, either, he just wrote a load of snotty accounts of their time together and buggered off to paint naked women in Tahiti.
