Mar. 12th, 2007 01:26 pmWent to a training last week, and one item was using the DiSC tool to assess your behavioral profile. One profile is Dominance, and guess who it made me think of:
| DESCRIPTORS | VALUE TO TEAM | Possible Limitations | Under Stress |
Direct Decisive Aggressive Strong Ego Problem Solver Impatient Risk Taker Self-Starter Results-oriented | •Bottom-line organizer •Self-Starter •High Value on Time •Challenges status quo •Innovative •Forward-looking | • Oversteps authority • Argumentative • Dislikes routine work • Takes on too much and too fast • Burns bridges • Can’t ‘leave well enough alone’ • Overuses position • Lacks diplomacy | Demanding • Nervy • Aggressive • Egotistical |
Emotional Motivator: Anger
| High D's are best suited for jobs that require or emphasize: | and do not require or emphasize: |
•Fast Decisions • Short Deadlines • Confronting Conflict • Focus on Results • Winning against Competition • Risk • Being Demanding • Future Orientation • High Energy Level • Directing • Challenge • Responsibility • Freedom and Independence • Power and Authority | • Taking Orders • Repetitive Work • Patient Listening • Focus on Details • Consulting Others • Developing Relationships • Sensitivity to Others’ Needs • Not Being Respected • Boredom • Summarizing Selling Points • Unfounded Enthusiasm |
And our boy Wilson definitely seems like an "S" type:

Date: 2007-03-12 10:54 pm (UTC)Wow, fits really well for House. The first four squares could have truly been written with him in mind!
Though there are some imo rather significant exceptions in the "and do not require or emphasize"-part imo:
• Patient Listening - maybe not "patient" as in gracious or sympathetically ^_~ but he's definitely a good and astute listener
• Focus on Details - TOTALLY House in the positive! After all his incredible perception, focus and attention to details make him PPTH's very own Sherlock Holmes...
• Consulting Others - makes up a great deal of his job and while he might not always listen or will mock the consulted minions mercilessly when he deems their efforts stupid he has obviously no problem to consult others.
Those very things account for a good deal of his exceptional gifts and abilities! Oh, and he is also rather good at "Summarizing Selling Points" - after all he needs that skill constantly to get permission from Cuddy and patients or relatives for his mad schemes and procedures which will then save the day/PotW....
I'm less sure of the "S"-fit for Wilson since he has very little screentime in comparison (which is easily overlooked since his scenes are usually quite memorable) and that nearly exclusively interacting with House or on House's behalf. This might screw with perception as I think he's much more able/comfortable to show/act on his various less than noble traits when with House than with others as well as being probably less high-strung out of his company... It's simply not as astonishingly accurate a fit as House's "D" imo.
"Even Temper" though is definitely not him - drama queen, excessive lecturing and rants are rather defining established characteristics.

Date: 2007-03-13 02:29 am (UTC)- I agree that House can listen astutely, it's always for what he needs/wants to know. He can't patiently listen just to support the other person, which I think that indicates.
- House knows a phenomenal amount of details and can focus in closely - but, once again, that's when he wants to. When it comes to "mindless" details (paperwork, writing back to patients who ask for consults), he can't be bothered.
- House is very good at providing consultation, but he HATES "consulting others" meaning getting other people's opinions and feedback. Yes, he uses his minions as sounding boards, but if he wants to do something, he does it, without checking in, unless he absolutely has to.
He is somewhat good at summarizing selling points, although he adds in too many "moron" comments to be completely effective!
As for Wilson, yes, it's not as close a match. You're definitely right. Wilson probably has some moderate "D," and some "I" (Influence) as well. And Wilson has some drama queen tendencies around House, but, man, if House was my best friend, I'd be screaming at him to a far higher degree than Wilson does! Wilson keeps his temper in check pretty well, or at least he did back in Season 1 and 2.
Thanks for commenting!
