Headline in the Washington Post read, "Romney will take respect over love," and my first thought was...

Say it with me:

With Wilson, you get both!

Except, my fanon is that Wilson always votes for the candidate with the hottest wife so it'd be Obama who'd get both. Sorry, Mitt.

That was the moment when I truly started not just to like Amber as a character, but to relate to her. Because I've pretty much always felt that way, myself -- that I had to make that choice, and faced with it, I've made the same choice she did.

I thought Volakis was an "eh" character as a candidate -- but Amber was amazing as Wilson's girlfriend. Wilson, and House, would've been much happier if the events of "House's Head" hadn't happened.

Heh, there were a couple of hints of Wilson having strong anti-government feelinngs during the show's run - I like to think of him voting for Obama because he thought it was the right, normal thing to do but secretly wanting to vote for some radical left-winger.

Wilson is big on community and helping others, so I am betting those hints were him not liking the government that was in at the time. :)

This post made my day. :) And that's an interesting theory on Wilson's voting preferences.

LOLOLOL When it comes right down to it, of course Wilson votes principles, not looks. But some part of him instinctively feels being able to obtain and keep an attractive mate is a sign of strength (for women as well as men), neanderthal as that instinct might be.

Damn! Burst out laughing and got weird looks from my family! I always thought Amber was awesome! She didn't back down from anybody AND got Wilson! Her discussion with House made me like her even more. Thanks for the funny post!

Amber was so good for Wilson; I miss her a lot.

I tried to read the fic you linked but it assumes too much knowledge for me (not just in fandom but in US culture) so I'll ask a basic question.
Do people really queue to vote? In Italy we vote on a Sunday, and I've only ever seen queues on extremely sunny days, when everyone goes to the beach and they all try and go after dinner. Also, so long as you make it before deadline you're allowed to vote (been there, done that, was home around eleven pm).

Depending on when during the day you go, yes, in the US you might have to queue up to vote if it's a presidential election. I've never had to wait if it was purely a local election.

In 2008, I went early in the morning because I wanted to vote before work (I work more than 30 minutes away from my home, so I couldn't go during the middle of the day), and I waited probably 45 minutes. And got really bored, and started thinking about how annoyed House would be to have to wait. A friend of mine who went to the same voting place an hour later waited about 15 minutes; another friend who went in the middle of the day didn't wait at all.

And, yes, if you're in the line at the polling place's closing time, they will let you vote.

You can also mail in your ballot early, under the rules set by the state where you're registered.
