Hugh Laurie gives a very interesting discussion about Season Seven, with spoilers for the atmosphere or tenor of the first part of the season but no specific plot spoilers.

It's about House and Cuddy's relationship throughout, but if you jump to 4:10, Hugh spends time talking about Wilson's reaction to the relationship, Wilson's character, House's character, and how Wilson & House feel about each other. It's very ♥ ♥ ♥

So Wilson will be protective, but not jealous. I CALLED IT! ;-)

Hee hee hee. I think Wilson may also end up feeling a bit jealous, but he's not going to show it -- too busy being worried about how it will all turn out.

House is so Wilson's kid.

I think living in a closet is probably the most sensible reaction to ship wars ever.

That makes me very happy -- that Wilson can't let House out of his sight (figuratively) :-)

I loved that Hugh Laurie confirmed so many things that I think are marvelous about Wilson's character: that he cares so much for his friend, that he doesn't get it right but he keeps trying, that he has House's best interests at heart. ♥ I also love that HL confirmed that there are things House is not good at (not news at all to me, but shocking to some fans I will not name) and that House wants Wilson's help. Even as meddling and anxiety-riddled as that help may be : )

that was a nice interview. i like that they let him ramble and didn't interrupt. i miss his premushroom days when he mixed with the unwashed masses.

I also enjoyed that he was fully withing the camera frame (unlike one interview on the S6 DVD where they cut off the top of his head from the eyebrows up).

Might be a little more dangerous for him to mingle with 'the peasants' <3 now that he's famous in N. America as well as across the pond. With fame comes a lot of garbage. When will people realize that actors are just people working a job, who have families and lives outside of their work like the rest of us and need a little privacy too?

I love that HL doesn't speak in sound bites like so many of the others, and his take on the season makes me feel better about it. I love the "pilot's license" reference, and Wilson's anxiety and meddling. It gives me a warm feeling that Wilson will feel he HAS to butt in! No pun intended.

I particularly like that HL says that House needs help in the relationship area ("doesn't have his pilot's license"). Wilson's butting in and meddling is going to be annoying, but there are good reasons for it. ♥

S7 hasn't even started yet and I'm already so heartily sick of listening to people talk about House/Cuddy that I couldn't bring myself to watch any of the interview except this part. I liked what he said, it sounds like what I'd expect from Wilson and House. I even liked the smile on his face when he first said Wilson's name, like he really likes the character.
Yes I'm sick of House/Cuddy (medical mysteries, anyone else remember those?) but I'm looking forward to Wilson giving Cuddy his patented don't-break-House's-heart speech. And Cuddy ripping him to shreds for it!

I have been trying to stay away from House/Cuddy discussion because... well, a lot of reasons. One in particular is the line from TPTB that House & Cuddy pursuing a relationship was inevitable, and has spent six seasons building. Uh, no. It's been a possible development from the start, but not inevitable. And it didn't even seem likely until S5. (Seasons 1-4, I was picking up on the same "brother/sister" vibe that HL talked about in interviews.)

Anyway! I hope that we get more fun Wilson concern than annoying Wilson concern in this season, and that they keep the humor level up in general.

Also, that there are good patients this year.

That drives me crazy too, the retconning. In the early seasons there was no sign at all that they wanted each other. None. What's more, we were TOLD that Stacy was House's great love. Now we're supposed to believe that House and Cuddy have been in love with each other all their adult lives!
Today I read in the newspaper about a study which found that men who are interested in a long-term relationship with a woman look at their faces, while men interested only in a short-term relationship (booty call) look at their bodies. It cracked me up because I immediately thought of all the time they've spent showing House staring at Cuddy's breasts and rear.

It was nice to hear the way HL talked about Wilson and House's unique relationship with him. I just wish Sam died in a gruesome, agonizing way in the premiere, but no such luck, as if Huddy won't be hard enough to stomach. I'm taking hope from what HL said about the dynamic of House and Cuddy at work that they will face problems in their relationship because of it. Please, please don't let House become a p***y and give in to Cuddy this season just so he'll get laid!

I am still waiting for the show to show me who Sam is. I don't feel like I know her at all, except through what House & Wilson have said... and what they've said doesn't add up to what canon has shown over the past six seasons, so I'm still waiting.

Amber was awesome, and I'm still sad she died. If she'd lived, I think House's acceptance of her would have continued to build, and all three of them would have hit something very, very close to happy.

About Cuddy: it's difficult for anyone to balance a professional relationship and an intimate personal relationship. It'll be doubly hard for House, because he -- as HL said -- has much less experience with relationships at all than most people.

Agreed. Except for the Amber part. Undoubtedly, next to Sam she's a saint but a part of me still doesn't want to see anyone get between House and Wilson because inevitably it puts a strain (not just an inconvenience) on their friendship. Is that because of House's jealousy? To a great extent, yes, but not entirely. Wilson is like a nineth grader who can seem to have both platonic friends and a boyfriend/girlfriend at the same time. If he chooses House, then he neglects his wives, if he chooses his girlfriend/wife, he neglects House. So they both are to blame, if one wants to go into blaming.

I know I could accept Huddy if Cuddy hadn't been so incredibly lousy and hurtful to House. Almost always when House hurt Cuddy it was because they were at odds over something at the hospital and it wasn't 'personal' (with the exception of the time Cuddy took control of the care of a child patient and he screamed at her that she would make a lousy mother. That was nasty and personal for sure). She, however, made most of her attacks or damages on him in a personal fashion, anything from setting up trip wires and making him up stairs with his bad leg because she tricked him into believing the elevator wasn't working to betraying his most embarassing moments to Lucas or making him drive for hours at Thanksgiving only to find out that she'd tricked him. So, there. Thus endeth my rant.

Me, too! ♥ Sometimes reading fandom reaction, I get confused as to whether my impressions were right, so it's nice to get HL's take on it.

Oh, Hib, honey, I'm sorry. It's perfectly reasonable to feel sad; you care a lot about the character of House, so I'm sure it feels like losing a friend.

Hope you won't mind me continuing to talk about the show.

Aw, thanks darling, for being so sweet and understanding. And of course I don't mind you continuing to talk about the show! I just may not always comment.

I'll always love House, and I'm pretty sure I'll keep writing my own version of him, as I've always done, I'll just stay away from canon.

I really like HL descriptions Wilson "anxious fellow", "meddler", but specially the admission that this is uncharted territory for House and that Wilson truly wants what is best for both House and Cuddy (loved that HL mentioned whether H-Cu are together or not). I am truly following the "if you have nothing nice to say" adage with H-Cu spoilers, it has made my summer less stressful.

I loved CW in so many other projects that I have not been able to even put into words how dissappointed I feel about the Wilson-Sam story/plot device....

I am not excited about S7, this time I am watching the repeats on the weekend not on real time. Fringe is now at the same time that House, M.D., and for that I am truly excited, so Wilson/RSL watching gets delayed.
