Who wrote this episode? Whoever it was, I have two a coupla comments for ya:
1) Please to be following Doris Egan's lead in at least trying to keep the timeline consistent. Please. "Twelve years ago" does not equal "it's been almost a decade," and neither of those equal 1991! The sound you hear is my hair being torn out. And WTF bringing Cuddy into the mix of having known Wilson as long as House has? Enough that she would "know what he was like back when Sam broke his heart"?
Not even mentioning the fact that canon established that Wilson didn't cheat on Julie but did cheat on wives, plural, before her -- which means he had to have cheated on Sam.
2) The writer of this episode decided to give up on the whole "subtext" thing, huh, and just go straight to the frying-pan-over-the-head school of parallels. POTW won't tell his close friend who cares so much for him about being in love with her, because he thinks she'll be better off with someone who has more to offer. In the same episode where House is being all protective of Wilson's heart. SUBTLE. VERY SUBTLE.
3) God damn, Olivia Wilde's pretty.
4) I guess Lucas and House aren't holding any grudges about the prank war/condo stealing thing. Good that all it took was a knock to House's head and Wilson shelling out thousands of dollars for repairs and a new TV.
I did like this episode. Liked everyone's acting, liked the lighting, liked that RSL managed to tame his 'ew touching' and make Wilson seem reasonably physically comfortable with Sam (although he still won't kiss full on the lips), liked Cuddy trying to stay out of it. It seemed like she was the only one who remembered what had happened in the early stages with Amber -- and she was trying to keep out and not make another "string you up and deposit her eggs in you" comment. Thumbs up, Cuddy! (And you looked gorgeous in this ep, too, Lisa E. Love your hair. Yes, you too, Jesse Spencer; I haven't forgotten how cute you were either.)
