How About Something Trivial?
Jan. 14th, 2010 07:27 pmAt least sixteen of RSL's former co-stars have ended up with guest roles on House (last four in the list below were ID'd by Muggs on HHOW).
Sasha Alexander ("The Down Low", was Jesse on the TV series "Wasteland" - RSL played the character named "Jesse's ex" in one episode)
Eddie Mills ("Clueless"; in that episode of Wasteland with RSL)
John Laroquette ("Son of a Coma Guy"; in Corsairs with RSL)
Scott Foley ("Sports Medicine"; in a play with RSL)
Cynthia Nixon ("Deception"; in The Manhattan Project (and plays) with RSL)
Kurtwood Smith ("Half-wit"; played RSL's father in Dead Poets Society)
Frank Whaley ("Mirror Mirror"; in Swing Kids, and in plays with RSL)
Piper Perabo ("Resignation"; in The I Inside with RSL)
Kip Pardue ("Forever"; in Driven with RSL)
Brent Briscoe ("Three Stories"; in Driven with RSL)
Mackenzie Astin ("All In"; in Last Days of Disco with RSL)
Geoffrey Lewis ("One Day, One Room"; in A Painted House with RSL)
Dylan Kussman (the father in "Kids"; in Dead Poets Society)
Jack Plotnick (Hal Connor in "Broken"; in Ground Control)
Jonathan Fraser (motorbike salesman in "Autopsy"; in Ground Control)
Stacy Edwards (Lucy Palmeiro in "The Socratic Method"; in Driven)
ETA 4/27/10:
Ann Dowd (Mother Superior in "Damned if You Do"; in the play Candida with RSL)
David Strathairn (POTW in "Lockdown"; RSL's father in In the Gloaming)
Stated another way, over 10% of House episodes have had a former RSL co-star in it. O_O
Anyone know any more? We might've missed out on some who were on the stage with him.
PS. If there are any other guest stars in future episodes, DON'T MENTION them. No spoilers please.

Date: 2010-01-15 07:12 pm (UTC)RSL is good in his role, i'll give him that. I kind of ignored the fact the two main 'stars' were Sylvester Stallone and Burt 'bleedin' Reynolds. That on its own should have rang alarm bells. But I dived in head first and emerged feeling just as empty as I did when I saw Speed 2: Cruise Control for the first time. D:

Date: 2010-01-16 02:22 am (UTC)Since you began compiling the list, I've been worried about it being used to prop up those hateful conspiracy theories as "proof" that RSL is the evil mastermind behind every decision about casting in House, MD.
Something like: Not only is RSL powerful enough to force TPTB to fire people who threaten him (i.e. JMo) he according to this list is also powerful enough to force them to hire only people he knows.
Why has fandom made fear so many nutsy things?

Date: 2010-01-16 02:30 am (UTC)O_O Seriously? But he doesn't like having screen time! He likes getting paid for doing less. In fact, that is my silliest conspiracy theory: that for every guest star he brings in, he gets to turn down a storyline that would've included him. That's what happened with "Half-Wit." Why wasn't House's supportive best friend around for the second half of the ep? Because RSL had gotten the show Kurtwood Smith, so he got to bag those scenes!

Date: 2010-01-16 03:14 am (UTC)I had posted a brief summary of all those RSL related posts, but what is the point of dragging that into this happy place?
I totally prefer your theory and it kind of meshes (?) with RSL personality more that the evil mastermind of casting does.
