WIP: Five Times James Wilson Was Sick Freshman Year (And a Couple of Times He Wasn’t), 1-4 of 6, R, xSGA, Wilson/McKay, 1/08

My favorite story of 2009 (of my own): Peekaboo. This is how much I love Jack. And domestic fics, and embarassing Wilson, and House's father not being a monster.

My best story this year: Work by Night, or Milk, Silk, a Bedspread or a Quilt.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: In Your Place, a ficlet about a patient, set after episode 5-24. It has a lot in it, by reflection, about Wilson, his relationship with House, us as fans, what we get from fictional characters, and what really matters. (Runner-up: Second Sunday in May. Cuddy's first Mother's Day! We didn't see much acknowledgment of that, although it's a big event for a new mother.)

Most fun story: Almost all of them, in one way or another. Get Happy was a yummy smutlet for Porn Battle, with a fun surprise pairing.

Most sexy story: The real-person-slash NC-17 story A Fine Performance. Yowza.

Most unintentionally *telling* story: Type One. Not in the character trait House uncovers, but in the panicked fear of being exposed. "A dagger turned rib-spreader, cracking your chest, bones splintering as the cool air of outside rushes across places it’s not meant to go." In the heartfelt certainty that who you are is not good enough.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Heh. Every year I say, "None." Thinking about the characters leads to writing a story, for me, not the other way around.

Biggest surprise: My foray into House/Cuddy there at the end of the year. ?? I'm pretty sure that won't continue, though.

Biggest disappointment: Not finishing my fic commitments. : (

Worst story: Apocrine and Merocrine isn't awful but it just doesn't pop.

Hardest story to write: "Milk, Silk, a Bedspread or a Quilt" was intense.

Easiest story to write: Most of the ficlets were pretty easy, but I'll mention Comes a Day in particular. House deserves unconditional love, even though he doesn't think it exists.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Not too many this year.
- My first RPS smut!
- attempt at a realistic look at under-age sibling incest
- yet more pervy AU with li'l bastard almost-jailbait Wilson
- put a cock ring in a baby's mouth

Status of WIPs: Exactly the same as at the end of 2008 -- Numerous. Five Times James Wilson Was Sick Freshman Year (And a Couple of Times He Wasn’t); sequel to "Telling"; Nightdog's BD fic from 2007; the House-is-dying one that's been emotionally jossed; the Limbo one, which is separate from the plotted-in-my-head sequel to "Ever After"; the Freaky Friday Woobie-verse one; five RSL BD fics: 1) outdoor H/W Pillory sex, NC-17, which I've been thinking about forever and finally started writing this week; 2) another from Pillory universe - probably an incident that happens when Nathan, first son of the House line, is about to be conferred his citizenship; 3) Unicorn follow-up - mostly plotted, needs to be written; 4) SGA, Michael AU; 5) schmoopy kitty fic; AND five HL BD fics: 1) Stacy; 2) more li'l bastard; 3) SGA; 4) docking; 5) the Sheppard/Ronon one with the gender issues.

'In Your Place' underappreciated? It's my favourite of your stories this year, and considering how wonderful your stuff is that's saying a lot.
Ooh, I hope you complete the Pillory verse one about House's son!

By "underappreciated" I meant that not too many people seem to have read it. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though. : )

I have a lot more thinking to do about the Pillory verse before I can write more of it, after the discussion that happened when Zulu made the Pillory vid. I don't want to give the wrong impression. Maybe I'll write and f-lock it.

Milk, Silk, was one of the hardest fics to get through for me. I am surprised that I have managed to read it a couple more times.

I loved that you re-visited Jack several times this year.

Best wishes, ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

From a lurker and reader.

Happy New Year! I love hearing your comments and thoughts, so please emerge from lurkerdom whenever you want. Have you been over at HHOW? I haven't been going there much, but if you're in discussions over there I'll make an extra effort.

I had a brief meltdown when the spoilers about Wilson came out. I just kept thinking of all the ways it could be done wrong, so I have decided to live if not spoiler-free, at least not to do anymore knee-jerk posts. BTW, I ended up loving the episode, and got my head full of even more questions regarding Wilson's life.

I have continued to post in other threads at HHoW, mostly the characters, media and fic discussion threads, I'd love to see you there. One of my goals this new year is to post a bit more, I'd probably never be a prolific poster but I'll try to come out of lurkdom more often.

I loved 'Peekaboo' SO MUCH. And of course, 'Comes a Day', one of my all time favourite House stories (as you know). This doesn't mean I didn't love the other ones as well, I hasten to add, but these two are true gems.

And oooooh so much WIPs yay!

Thank you -- although I am not yay-ful about the WIPs. They should not be Works In Progress; they should be Works That Are Done. : (

*hugs*
