Author: Dee Laundry
Pairing: Several implied
Rating: PG, spoilers through Season Five.

1. It's OK; I didn't want any cake.
2. Danny didn't do it, Mom; it was me.
3. I don't know where the bruise came from.
4. I'm sure she didn't cheat off my test.
5. Ivy League's not that big a deal, anyway.
6. Eh? Can you say it in English? Je ne... ne... ne comprends pas, uh, du le français.
7. Friday evening's convenient for me, sure.
8. I love you.
9. We should definitely have kids.
10. I just have a headache, that's all.
11. It doesn't matter to me whether House shows up or not.
12. She didn't mean anything to me.
13. Simply being considered for the position is enough of an honor.
14. Of course I'd rather be home with you tonight, honey.
15. Monster trucks are awesome.
16. She's my cousin.
17. Well, I don't know if the dopamine's enough. She may need an inamrinone lactate.
18. I do sign my name differently sometimes.
19. Things are going much better, so weaning myself off the pills is the right decision.
20. I don't know anything about it.
21. She doesn't have a name. It's some sort of birth defect.
22. I'm glad no one mentions House to me.
23. My girlfriend died, the only person I loved for a long time.
24. The fact is, I just don't like monster trucks.
25. I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me.

Interesting :) I liked this. I felt like I could place or infer where a lot of them might have come from but this one:
21. She doesn't have a name. It's some sort of birth defect.
Would you mind elaborating? :)

In "Frozen" when House was trying to find out who Wilson was dating, House said it was strange that Wilson wouldn't say the woman's name, and Wilson said: "She doesn't have a name. It's some sort of birth defect." : )

Thanks.

This hits, and keeps on hitting, but isn't hugely overwrought; just sad, and inviting more sadness as it goes on. 15 and 24 are quite strong, as are 9 and 15 and 25.

15 and 24 are an interesting pair, aren't they? Opinions change over time, and I can fully imagine Wilson lying on both ends. Thanks.

That list makes me want to give Wilson a big hug! (((HUG)))

I love how he chooses his words so carefully, trying *not* to hurt the person he is lying to. He truly is considerate to a fault -- and that fault is perhaps how often and easily he *does* lie, probably to himself too.

Wilson needs a hug, more than he'll admit. I think he never wants to hurt anyone. And yet he does. Thanks.

Biggest lie he's ever told. This is great, reminds us all of how screwed up Wilson is. *gives Wilson House-hugs* Thank you for writing and sharing.

When that line came out of Wilson's mouth, I literally said to the TV screen, "WHAT?" He most definitely loved Amber with all his heart, but the only person? Um, no.

Thanks.

Is it sad that I read this list and went WAIT ARE MONSTER TRUCKS AWESOME OR NOT MAKE UP YOUR MIND and completely ignored the more serious character questions that were raised?

...I'm really worried about this truck issue. :3

People's opinions change over time! My thought here was that at first Wilson lied and said he thought monster trucks were awesome, because House liked them so much, and Wilson wanted to please (impress?) House. Then, over time, Wilson grew to like monster trucks very much. In S5, he lied and said he didn't like them to cover up the prodigal brother having returned.

This list is something that tells you more about Wilson the more you contemplate each point. I also noticed the monster trucks thing, and loved it, although I didn't come up with your explanation as such - it just made sense in a Wilson kind of way. Because I'm pretty sure sometimes he doesn't actually know what he thinks is 'true' at any given time; everything gets mixed up according to circumstance. Truth is relative *g*

How very wonderful to come home from the barn and find this.

It's amazing how many truths we can pick out about him from the lies he's told.

Will there be, perhaps, a House companion piece to this? I'd love to look at House's lies the same way, and see where they're similar, where they're not, and perhaps where they mesh together.

3, 5 and 25 really made me think "ouch".
I imagine the lie he's told the most often is "I have to work late tonight, honey"...

I think 25 is probably the lie he's told most often, but "I have to work late tonight" (or some variation of #14) is high up there in the count as well.

These are wonderful, poignant, and spot on--some extracted right from the show, and others extrapolated from Wilson's personality. I'd love to see drabbles or stories about the ones we have never heard about in canon before.

It was interesting to pull the quotes from the episodes -- there are some times in canon where I'd been sure Wilson had lied, but there was no quote in the transcript to pull. He seems to lie by omission and obfuscation a lot, rather than direct statement (at least in canon). Oh, Wilson.

Thanks.

For a second I missed the "about House" in your sentence, and thought you said she'd written about Wilson. O_O

I haven't read anything by Quail lately, so no, it wasn't my inspiration. Was her story good? Should I read it?

Oh wow - I love this, and they could be prompts for 25 very great fic's. Aaaaaaaaaaaah, poor little Jimmy... Danny didn't do it, Mom; it was me; some of these "early" lies actually explain a lot about the Wilson we all know and love (and I love what you did with the Monster Trucks, yay!). Thanks for sharing!
