More Memage
Jul. 1st, 2009 10:27 pmThe five words she gave me are: domestic, woman!Wilson, writer's block, vidding, connections!
Domestic. It's amusing that this word should be associated with me in fandom, because I am actually one of the least domestic people in the world. My family is wonderful; being home is awesome; but the housework, household affairs aspects of domesticity: I just don't care. I admire people who are proficient at it because I'm just not.
Anyway, when it comes to House-Wilson, count me in as an ardent fan of well-written domestic fics. As I've said before, House and Wilson are two miserable men who are slightly less miserable when they're together. And if they could work their way to being together together, they could even approach something like content. House was happy with Stacy; he could be happy with Wilson. Wilson's happier with House than he is with anyone else; having permission to be "properly" doting on House would satisfy him to no end.
Of course, they also have the potential for their insane obsessiveness with each other to collapse into a black hole of angst. But a good, in-character domestic fic is more challenging to write than a good, in-character angst fic, and happier to read besides. For me.
Woman!Wilson. So much to say about this, but I'll focus on my belief that Wilson is being deliberately written as a classic ESFJ ("Caregiver") in the Myers-Briggs typing. As it says on this excellent site, "ESFJs incorporate many of the traits that are associated with women in our society. However, male ESFJs will usually not appear feminine at all. On the contrary, ESFJs are typically quite conscious about gender roles and will be most comfortable playing a role that suits their gender in our society." (As an aside: "Being highly practical, the ESFJ is excellent in matters regarding home management. They're likely to be very responsible about taking care of day-to-day needs, and to be careful and cautious about money matters." (source) Domestic!)
Writer's block. I'm known for writer's block? Waaah. It's true, though, that currently my ability to write fic has left the building. Plenty of ideas, no drive to get them done. Not even my Remix, which is due in eleven days.
Vidding. Oh my stars, Zulu is so evil to bring up this word! EVIL. I have
Connections!. I'm scratching my head as to why Zulu associates this with me, especially with the exclamation point. I will say that I adore identifying connections in ideas, seeing how one thing relates to another.

Date: 2009-07-02 03:27 am (UTC)The flaws of the ESFJ type are especially what make me think of that type for him: the "flexible" moral code, the tendency toward nagging, the tendency to think poorly of oneself if not given external reassurance.
House doesn't think much of the way Wilson comes up with his ideas, but I think that's a "T"'s scorn for an "F." : ) House is above all a logical thinker, and he doesn't get why Wilson makes his decisions from the "F" perspective.
But, as you say, the two types are similar, so it could be either.
No vidding! I don't have the time! Really! Really! (Don't be surprised if a rather crappy vid shows up at some point on my LJ.)
