Oh, God, reading quotes from Overboard on IMBD reminds me how much I love this movie.

Joanna: Must you watch that THING incessantly?
Grant: Yes, I must. It has a tawdry, escapist quality that sooths my nerves.

A lot of the movie is so over-the-top, and then it has these moments of quiet truth, and... Happy sigh. I want an Overboard icon.

Hee. You're cute. ;)

I love that movie, too. What's up with that?

I haven't seen that in ages, but it is such a great guilty pleasure movie. And Kurt Russell in his prime never hurt anyone's eyes. :D

You are so right about Mr. Russell being easy on the eyes. Add in the goofiness, and I just can't stop grinning.

My God those lines explain it all. I think that was a subliminal message so that when you are channel surfing and come across this movie you HAVE to watch it. I really didn't like it when I saw it in the theaters but I cannot pass it up if it is on TV. My Blue Heaven with Steve Martin and Rick Moranis was like that for my sister. I thought it was an ok movie, she HAS to watch it.

Don't they explain it? They explain a number of the things I enjoy, actually. :D But Overboard also has those small nuggets of genuine emotion that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Eeeeee, I'm smiling just thinking about it.

I used to watch that movie with my mom all the time, I don't know where it got to *grumbles*

What would you like to have in the icon?

Hib! LJ notifications have something wrong with them, because I never got this comment.

What would I want in the icon? Hmm. Dean and Annie hugging at the end? Or when he was telling her the story of Arturo? Something happy of the two of them.

And maybe Grant leaning into that giant shell and saying "Tofutti" -- hee hee hee.

Oh, I love that film - it's what I'd call a comfort-film :D

It's very silly on one level, but it's such fun and it's actually got quite a lot of deep stuff in it. Yummy.

A comfort-film is such a great label for it! It's not "cinema," not getting any Oscars, but the realistic moments are so touching, and there's so much humor and...

I just realized that like half my fanfics are similar in tone to the movie. HEH! ♥ ♥ ♥
