Title: Not Quite the Chrome Horse
Author: Dee Laundry
Pairing: House/Foreman
Rating: PG
Words: 267
Summary: House, Foreman, and their son Dylan, on vacation. Sequel to Rolling Stone, which is a sequel to [livejournal.com profile] queenzulu’s There’s No Such Thing in the World (as an Undo Button). Written for Queenzulu's amusement, for her DRABBLERAMA: Road Trip Edition.

Gug.

What’s with the baby names, little man?

Gug. Gug!

Dylan, House is sleeping. What do you want?

GUUUUUUUUUUUG.

I’m awake; I’m awake. What?

I’m going to be sick.

Why are you telling me? I’m not the one driving.

Pulling over.

I’m going to be sick.

Once again, why are you telling me? Whoa, that’s an interesting pallor to your skin. ‘Mossy,’ I think would be the best term.

Pulling over!

Sick, Gug.

Now, see if this was any one of the bugs commonly known as the stomach flu, you’d want to tell me, the Infectious Diseases Guy. But this is motion sickness, which is caused by balance issues in the vestibular system, and therefore falls more into the purview of the Neurologist in the family.

House, if you’re not going to get in the backseat with him, you could at least hand him the damn trash can.

Climb over the seats in a moving vehicle? You’re the one who gave us the two-hour road safety lecture before we left on this trip. And now you’re back there, so you can handle it. Here’s the trash can, kid.

Thanks. Daddy, I don’t feel good.

It’s OK, baby. It’ll pass. Close your eyes and lean against me for a minute.

See? Foreman’s the touchy-feely one. Why did you call for me?

God forbid he should want his father to try to make him feel better. Leave him alone, House.

Didn’t want House.

What?

I didn’t want House to make me feel better.

Then –

Just wanted to tell him I was gonna puke on his head.

That’s my boy.

It doesn't make a lot of sense if you haven't read the others, does it? Thanks for reading anyway!

Oh, I read the others as well, but I still find it hard to imagine these two/three together. Doesn't make it any less enjoyable though!

*BEAMS AROUND AT THE WORLD GENERALLY*

You rock. I keep wanting to write more about them, but I don't have the stories quite in my head. THIS WORKS SO MUCH BETTER.

Easier to write kid stories when you have a couple of them running around to prompt ideas. Although mine have never hurled in the car, thank goodness.

*beams back* Thanks!

I've got to go back and reread the others now. I remember House lives in the guest cottage behind Cuddy's (his sister) and Wilson's (her husband) place and Foreman was supposed to be a one-night stand.

Anyway, I thoroughly approve of the job they're doing, raising Dylan. It is very considerate of him to warn his father before puking on his head. This was fun.

Yep, you've got the basics right. I thought the end of "There's No Such Thing" implied that House was going to move in with Foreman, but I could be wrong. : )

Thanks!

Both are correct--Foreman was supposed to be a one night stand, but in the end, he and House moved in together.

I'm afraid I haven't read anything else in this universe, but I enjoyed it as a snippet. The idea of House + Foreman + kid just does all kind of things to my brain, but it's oddly charming XD

And yeah, I don't even have an appropriate icon...
