In 2008, I wrote 58 pieces, for a total of 110,700 words, one DVD commentary, and 14 recs for [livejournal.com profile] crack_van. Shortest was "Yep-a-Doodle" at 126 words; longest was my Big Bang fic "In for a Pound" at 23,900 words. The first half of the year was far more productive (71,800 words) than the second half (38,900).

December
Five Times Wilson Didn't Cry for House and the One and Only Time He Did, R, Wilson/women, House-Wilson friendship
On the Way, R, House/Wilson, sequel to That Time Cameron Had Mono

My favorite story of 2008 (of my own): Tough choice but I'll go with Contender, for Amber, Wilson, House, the Wilson family, "Our Solomon," "fondness for the fellas," and Wilson unequivocally winning one.

My best story this year: Everybody Feels the Wind Blow and Telling.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Rolling Stone. Zulu created a great 'verse that she let me play in, and this was so fun to write, but the market for House/Foreman kidfic (with a side of Wilson and Cuddy) is just small. However, it was very well appreciated by Zulu, so I'm satisfied. (Runner-up: Distinct, Wilson/OMC ficlet)

Most fun story: Almost all of them, in one way or another. I'll mention The Slashy Epilogue to Maineac’s ‘Sleeping Man’, because [livejournal.com profile] maineac totally was asking for it by having House say "secret gay ex-lover" instead of "secret gay lover." :D

Most sexy story: I shouldn't say it's the pervy Don't Stand, should I?

Most unintentionally *telling* story: Gone the Sun. This is Wilson as I see him: nice, concerned, giving, rapacious, in denial, furtive, joyous, innocent of his own oddness. It's why I love him (and why House loves him, I believe).

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: None. Free Time went a little bit out on a limb in portraying Amber as very loving and appreciative of Wilson; I was pleased that canon confirmed her feelings in the next episode.

Biggest surprise: That a 5700-word dialogue only fic was possible (Election Day).

Biggest disappointment: Tie: Not finishing my RSL BD fic commitments anywhere close to on time (SO sorry, everyone; I am still working on them) and dropping out of 2009's Big Bang.

Worst story: The first version of "Nothing on the Radio." A friend had the courage to tell me it was horrid, for which I'll always be grateful.

Hardest story to write: Everyone heard me bitching endlessly about In for a Pound. [livejournal.com profile] house_bigbang was a great fest, very, very well run. The difficulty was all my own insanity.

Easiest story to write: Probably the extreme satire Five Times Wilson Didn't Cry for House and the One and Only Time He Did. Deriding mis-characterization is fun.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: After 2007, the bar for this was raised, but here are a few from 2008:
- had Wilson sub to the entire Diagnostics team (old version)
- wrote an AU in which House M.D. is the fantasy of a computer genius and his house-husband
- 23,900 words of foursome porn (OK, that did include some plot)
- had House playing a computer game that features rape
- made McKay a prostitute (and House!)
- made Wilson dance in his gym shorts with a Zima and a corndog
- had Wilson cheat on Amber happily through exhibitionist slutty foursomes
- Stargate Atlantis: wrote non-schmoopy McShep "DADT is repealed" fic that has no happy ending
- the pervy AU with li'l bastard almost-jailbait Wilson
- had Wilson pulverize House's leg with a bottle of Jack Daniels
- made up (fictional) rude rumors about Charlie Sheen (and implied RSL wanted to service David Morse)
- gave Cuddy an abortion

Status of WIPs: Numerous. Five Times James Wilson Was Sick Freshman Year (And a Couple of Times He Wasn’t); sequel to "Telling"; Nightdog's BD fic from 2007; the House-is-dying one that's been emotionally jossed; the Limbo one, which is separate from the plotted-in-my-head sequel to "Ever After"; the Freaky Friday Woobie-verse one; and last but most definitely not least, five RSL BD fics: 1) outdoor H/W Pillory sex, NC-17, which I've been thinking about forever and finally started writing this week; 2) another from Pillory universe - probably an incident that happens when Nathan, first son of the House line, is about to be conferred his citizenship; 3) Unicorn follow-up - mostly plotted, needs to be written; 4) SGA, Michael AU; 5) schmoopy kitty fic.

Happy New Year!

Happy new year!! *hugs*
And wow - this is quite an achievement. I still hold dear "Election Day", because it's excellently written and a great achievement in itself - and also, maybe, because it features a crippled non-American observer. I still love you dearly for this (as if I didn't already)! ♥!

It's quite a change going from House/Wilson to House/Foreman, isn't it? I was sadly surprised. Oh well, the muse and all that! I truly do appreciate you writing Rolling Stone for me. I shall point as many people to it as I can. Did you ever crosspost to [livejournal.com profile] foreman_house? I know there are some there who'd enjoy it and it's never too late.

I really enjoyed writing it -- so very up my alley, with the kids, and the banter, and the warmth under everything -- and you've been very supportive and appreciative. Not to mention having created the awesome 'verse in the first place. (I changed my write-up above to better reflect the awesomeness.)

I don't think I cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] foreman_house, so I'll do that. There's some good House-Wilson interaction, too, so maybe it could go on [livejournal.com profile] house_wilson. Dylan deserves the attention!

I was hanging my head while reviewing the year, because my first fic year (7/06-6/07) was 216K words. A rather extreme dip in productivity D: with no excuse like, oh, totally changing one's life for the better.

Right, only 110K this year. *whaps you upside the head* *but fondly*

My first year was my best, too, in both productivity and quality. But I think your stories are getting braver with time. (Er, though I say that without having read quite a few of your fics this year. Which is why I'm memming this entry.)

Up, comma, cheer!

I don't feel like I'm braver. If I really wanted to be brave, I might attempt to submit original items somewhere. Maybe.

Anyhoo, we're off for an overnight internet-less trip now -- "see" you tomorrow night-ish.

PS. Cheer! and Cheers!

I'm looking at the year wondering where the time went. My first fic year (7/06-6/07), I wrote over 200,000 words, so this seems relatively paltry.

I think I've figured it out, though: my kids go to bed an hour to an hour and a half later than they used to. I can read and comment while they're up (some of the time) but can't have sustained focus to write.
