I've been mainlining Carpenters' songs on YouTube tonight, and you can't tell me that young James Wilson wasn't absolutely enthralled with Karen Carpenter's singing voice.

For hwshipper: And, in completely different news, this probably-not-appropriate-for-conservative-workplaces vid of a young man dancing made me think of the AU of "Book Marking." Lil!bastard Jimmy was not nearly as good a dancer, but he might've worn that outfit once.

The movie is a short directed by Todd Haynes before he made it big. It's Karen Carpenter's life story, acted out by Barbie Dolls. Of course, copyright being what it is, it'll probably never see the light of day. Not legally, at any rate.

I can totally see young James being completely enthralled by her, and not just her voice. She exhibited a fragility that probably would have obsessed him, and probably was the catalyst of his lifelong attraction to needy women/people.

I have seen "Superstar," and it is both bizarre and enthralling.

I can definitely see him being that special little-kid kind of in-love with her. I was thinking as I watched some of the vids that she looked a bit like Bonnie.

ITA Lil'Jimmy couldn't dance like that, nor do I think he'd ever be quite that skinny :) but indeed, the outfit!

I didn't realize it had an adult content warning on it! That's interesting -- Beyonce's original video, which is her in a similar outfit dancing the exact same moves, doesn't have the warning.

I can definitely see Wilson getting all intense over Karen Carpenter (and The Carpenters).

I could also see him dressing up like the guy in the video and dancing around his bedroom XD

I didn't even realize it had warning for adult content; just thought that workplaces might not like having a half-dressed dancing person on their employees' monitors. :D
