From thesaurus.com:

Notes: a hobo is a migratory worker who likes to travel, a tramp travels without working, and a bum does not travel or work

Insert RSL = bum joke here. Or joke about RSL's bum. Whichever.

In that case, I am currently a bum.

Had better get to work. :-) Unlike certain actors we could name.

So, the latest in the "scenes that pop into my head that I am not writing" is the re-writing of canon in which House's BFF Wilson is a straight woman (Emma). And if she's a straight woman, you know what other relationship she has to House, right? Yes, ex-wife.

Who cheated on House, causing him to divorce her. This also makes her responsible for House's infarction, because if he hadn't divorced her, he never would've started going out with Stacy. And Emma would've let House have his way about his leg but Stacy didn't. Ergo, House's pain is Emma's fault.

Most of the rest of canon happens exactly as it did, except Julie = Jude and Amber = Andrew. And Emma didn't get the Department Head position, which House considers to be his fault but isn't (mostly).

Your head is intriguing and I wish to subscribe to its newsletter.

p.s. Did On the Way ever get finished?

If my head could do a newsletter without me having to do anything, that would be awesome.

I am still working on the end of "On the Way." It is not anywhere as interesting as the delay might suggest. : (

Ah, yes, but, no - *Emma* is teen!slut!Wilson's college girlfriend! I'm still hoping we get to see House watch Wilson take her virginity some day...

I knew I'd used Emma somewhere else! I normally like Jane Wilson for female version of Wilson, but this time went with something different.

Yes, some day I will write the story of the overnight visit "chaperoned" by Dr. House. : )

Well, House thinks she's responsible, through that rather House-ian logic, and Emma is inclined to believe him.

This intrigues me. Although it also makes me wonder that, given how House and Stacy didn't marry and House's attitude towards marriage as a whole, how Emma got him to go through with the ceremony.

Also, if there were ever any conversations, "We're just friends. Whose genitals sometimes bump into each other."

In this 'verse, Wilson and House's marriage was before Stacy. They met the same way as canon -- House spotted Wilson carrying divorce papers, then bailed her out of jail -- and eloped right after Emma's divorce came through (about six months after House and Emma had met). Actually, Stacy was House's rebound relationship after he kicked Wilson out.

And yes, even as friends, their genitals sometimes bump into each other. : )

Ooh, that sounds fascinating!

I got very mixed up reading through that thread - I think it's because I'm tired - and kept being confused and 'resetting' Wilson to male in my head as I read. Erm :D

If I ever wrote up the full story, in her POV, I'd probably stick to calling her Emma to lessen confusion, although House would address her "Wilson." (Except during certain emotional scenes, when they'd be Emma and Greg. Awww.)

Finished your birthday present!! Finally!

*hugs*

In Dutch 'hobo' means something else entirely. Funny, languages.

I'm thinking RSL should be a 'hobum' because he's obliged to be migratory even though he'd prefer not to :D

Over here there's no such thing as a 'hobo' - all itinerant folk are tramps. I vividly remember how entertained I was when I first heard someone being referred to as a 'bum' (I was very young, lol).

I wonder whether they called bums "bums" because they were referencing bottoms, or whether it's a different derivation. Will have to investigate the linguistic history at some point... :D

I suppose they might have been called 'bums' because they sit on their bums all day - but then you guys in the US don't use 'bum' as 'ass' any more (I don't think - do you?)

Hmm. I need an icon with a bum on it (in the sense of ass, not tramp...)

Where I live, the word of bum is "Sandler", and that always makes me think of Adam Sandler.
