The "mix yourself" meme looked like fun, but I'm too boring to have a mix about. Here instead is a soundtrack of sorts to my fic list. The song titles link to vids on YouTube.

I decided that's the song Wilson was dancing to in the fic! YAY! I almost picked the song with "making patterns rhyme" in it, but wanted Careless Memories instead. : )

Yay, look at all your fun 80's songs; I'm going to have to work through these :) You find the best memes ever, this is a fun one.

They're almost all 80s songs, aren't they? You can tell when I quit listening to music heavily. XD

And thanks, it's good to be back. (Wish I was writing more, but eh.)

Thanks! It started with me hearing "Just a Girl" on the radio and blossomed from there.

That's what you think. That doesn't mean we would think that, though!

I love this mix!

Thanks! Hey, do you know if anyone's done a fanvid with "Never Let Me Down Again"? It's probably too long but the lyrics are spot-on.

interesting combination. there are some songs I absolutely love on that list and some I can't stand. (my fics tend to have a lot of musical references in them, "Infarction-tastic!" being the most obvious of the lot.)

Which ones do you hate? I'm not actually a fan of "Hopelessly Devoted to You" but House played it in the fic so it had to be included. Also, it's sometimes fun to sing it melodramatically with a hairbrush. :P

I love a lot of Billy Joel but I hate "You're Only Human" because it trivializes depression. If I were feeling suicidal and anyone talked to me like that it would make me MORE inclined to want to kill myself. A far better talk-them-out-of-killing-themselves song is "Rock And Roll Suicide" by David Bowie or "Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel. There was an interview once where Bush Senior was talking to a junkie in rehab and he said "Did you say to yourself, 'the heck with it, I don't need this darn thing'?" "you're Only Human" reminds me of Bush's attitude here.

Yeah, you're right. "You're Only Human" is actually on there ironically; I can't imagine House giving the advice in the song to anyone, and the tune is totally out of step with the the tone of the fic. (Plus the video is terribly, horribly, irredeemably cheesy.)

It's probably just as well I don't remember that video at all.

What do you mean, 'boring'? You aren't boring!

Interesting mix - I haven't even heard of a few of the songs (I wonder if they were US-only releases).

Which haven't you heard? So interesting! Most on the list have been reasonably popular in the US (I heard them played on the radio) with these exceptions:

Got to Be More Careful - Jon Cleary (on the House soundtrack)
They'll Need a Crane - They Might Be Giants (TMBG are awesome! Offbeat and fun. They have a song about James K. Polk and another about James Ensor, and many, many more obscure topics.)
Bloody Mary Morning - Willie Nelson (Well, it was played on country radio but not a cross-over hit, I don't think.)
Jackson - Johnny Cash & June Carter (This is from the '60s; I don't think it was very popular, but I love it.)
One Less Set of Footsteps - Jim Croce (Not his most famous song)

As far as I know (I might have heard the song and not heard who it was by) I have never heard of No Doubt or Jon Cleary.

I've not heard any of the songs by the Country guys - we rarely get Country and Western stuff on 'normal' (i.e. non-specialised) radio stations.
