House as a friend
Aug. 30th, 2008 03:45 pmI feel like there've been a lot of posts, comments, and fics lately about how Wilson is not a very good friend to House. In the spirit of positivity, let's turn this around and list all the things House has done to be a good friend to Wilson.
I've got:
- House let Wilson stay with him after the Julie break-up
- House didn't turn Wilson in for sleeping with a patient
What else? The S4 season finale is fresh in all our minds, but things that happened in canon or were referenced in canon before then would be great.
(PS. Hi, I'm back.)

Cameron: Then why wasn't it easy?
Because as House put it so well in 'Need To Know', simple and easy are two different things. I like Cameron but dammit, I could have smacked her in that scene.
People bring up 'Merry Little Christmas' as an example of Wilson being a terrible friend. Should Wilson have left House on the floor when he found him ODed? NO. But why was Wilson the one who found him at all? Because Wilson was the only one who checked on him! His own mother didn't call him on Christmas Eve. Cuddy and the ducklings knew about his state of mind and Tritter's deadline and Cuddy at least knew he'd gotten ahold of painkillers, I imagine the ducklings must have realized it too by then. But only one person checked on him, and it wasn't Cameron.

(I've always wondered if the director intended for Cameron to be so smarmy in that scene with Wilson. Because she sounded like a total ass there, passing judgment on Wilson about something she has no direct knowledge of. I wonder if we as viewers were supposed to question Wilson's motives... or if we were supposed to dismiss questioning of Wilson's motives!)
