Tomorrow night I am going to go see an actual movie, non kid-related, in an actual movie theater! This has not happened for... many years. When did [Poll #1231720]
It's an opinion poll! You should be biased. I see below that you're writing up your review. I'll check that out before making my decision. (Also, my husband is coming too so he might possibly be allowed to have some say in the choice.)
Definitely "Dark Knight". Not that I dislike The X-Files, but from everything I heard so far (the movie's not out in Germany yet, but some friends from UK have already seen it), Heath Ledger's bloody brilliant as Joker!
I just saw the X-files this weekend. It wasn't earth shattering, but I felt like I was seeing old friends again. And Mulder's monotonous monologues still do it for me.
Plus I can bore you wit *my* analysis. I intended to post a review on my LJ. It hasn't materialized yet because I'm feeling a bit lazy.
In my defense, I had an unexpected afternoon free, and usually I like Kevin Smith's movies. J.Lo is suprisingly OK during the half-hour or so she's in it before her character croaks.
Worst movie I ever saw in the theater: Satisfaction with Justine Bateman. *shudder*
"Worst movie I ever saw in the theater: Satisfaction with Justine Bateman. *shudder*"
But she was all Mallory Keaton in those days and a cool chick! Plus, that was only Julia Roberts' first film (or one of the first) and it's funny to see what these kids would do for work in the beginning. I can't believe Lliam Neeson did that film. Unbelievable. And I can't believe how many times I saw the damn thing. I never actually paid to watch it, in my pathetic defense. =) Dark Knight is likely still insanely crowded, if you mind that sort of thing. My guess is X-Files will offer more elbow room. But see both eventually! It's a must!
I'll admit that I'm horribly biased, as I've never seen one minute of any X-Files episode, but the Dark Knight was still all kinds of amazing. A lot of great depth given to the characters. Wonderful performances. It's well, well worth it.
It does sound pretty damn good. Decisions, decisions! Now we just have to ensure the babysitter doesn't flake out on us D: (If she does, I might go by myself :D)
Those are the two I'm most interested in. Hellboy II might be OK, too, but I never saw the first one. I'm not in the mood for a comedy like Mamma Mia! or Get Smart.
I have severe sleep apnea. If I go to the movies, I fall asleep for the first 20 minutes. So I rarely bother to go. (For the theater, I'll load up on caffeine and/or take a nap.)
In short, I didn't vote. The odds of my seing either is somewhere below slim and below none. But The Dark Knight got better reviews.
That's a bummer about the apnea. I haven't been big on movies in the past several years simply because it's a pain in the patoot for us to get out to them, between the expense and the time. I'm hoping we can both stay awake through this one!
I read an interesting speculation once that horror movies were created (in part) so that teenagers would have an excuse to cuddle in public -- the girl gets all "ooh I'm scared" and the boy gets to be manly and hold her in his arms to "protect" and "comfort" her. Heh.
We've been having date night fairly regularly but this is the first time it's worked out that we'll go to the movies, so if there's no snuggling to be had in the theater we can save it for later.
For the love of God, you MUST see "The Dark Knight". Or, as my friend youngsaavik use to say: "Dark Knight"? What "Dark Knight"???? You mean , right? RIGHT!!!! \o/ Batman RLZ!!! \o/ Joker RLZ!!! \o/ GORDON RLZ!! \o/ ALFRED RLZ!! The movie is perfect. Go. see. it. Please? *puppy eyes*
I'm planning on Dark Night this weekend, but I have to wait until my sister can go so she won't kill me. We both love staring at the pretty. I think there might be a bat in it or something. Whatever. Lots of pretty.
