Hope you've had a wonderful birthday, [livejournal.com profile] daasgrrl! Last year I got you a quick fic; this year I got you a... 'nother quick fic. Dancing, House & Wilson, PG, 236 words.

"You're going to dance on my grave."

"If you want me to." Wilson shifted in his seat, trying to pull his jacket out from under his rear.

House snorted. "You're such a moron."

"Uh huh," Wilson replied, still fidgeting with his jacket. "Got the framed certificate to prove it. Signed by a G. House, MD, FACS, BKCCH. I never got what that last abbreviation was." His head tilted and his lips quirked in what was probably a smirk, the damn bastard. "But then again, I'm a moron."

"Burger King Crown Card Holder."

Wilson's eyebrows went up and his eyes crossed a little. They'd been doing that more and more in the past few years, but he refused to get glasses to correct it. Vanity, thy name is James Evan Wilson. Huh. Wilson's initials spelled out JEW. House wondered why he hadn't ever teased Wilson about that.

"How come I --"

Wilson interrupted him blithely. "What the hell is a Burger King Crown Card?"

"Free burgers for life." Duh.

Those brown eyes narrowed. "You're kidding."

"No."

"You're kidding."

"No. Go through my wallet if you don't believe me."

"Then why the hell did you always make me pay when we went through the drive-through?"

House snorted. "Tradition."

Looking as cross and petulant as a three-year-old sans nap, Wilson settled back in his chair.

"You're going to dance on my grave," House said.

"No doubt," Wilson sighed.

LOL! Perhaps Wilson will dance the jitterbug or some other swing moves?

Happy B'day Daasgrrl!

Jitterbug, I suppose, unless Cuddy wants to dance with him. : )

I wonder what inspired this? It actually makes more sense for House to have one than Hugh Laurie -- House will use it.

Adorable.

According to Ad Age, Burger King is practically pissing themselves with all the free publicity Hugh Laurie gave them. He actually didn't have one of the cards when he made the quip, but they shipped him one as soon as the buzz started.

Thanks.

As far as I can figure out, he never actually said it. He told Jay Leno that one of the perks was getting a slightly better table at restaurants. And Jay said he had a BK Gold card and Hugh did a very funny "I'm soooo jealous."

And in their gossip column, the London Times seems to have combined those two statements into saying Hugh had a card. But it is a gossip column -- he didn't talk to them. And, as a result, they got tons of publicity and he's getting a card.

And, yeah, I read Ad Age. It appears in my inbox every day at work. (Boring!!)

Ah ha; that makes sense. I didn't quite see HL being a "perk-name dropper," if that phrase makes any sense. : ) But I so can see House having the card.

Aww, I liked this a lot. Reminds me of Jay Leno telling Hugh Laurie about his McDonald's (or was it Burger King? Some place evil) gold card and Laurie pretending to be soooo jealous. And any fic that inspires memories of RSL dancing is win!

It was Burger King! That's what made me think of House having one. Because (a) you know he'd somehow get one, and (b) you know he'd still make Wilson pay. Heh. Thanks.

DEE! Thank you so much! I have to admit I didn't get around to skimming my flist until this morning and then this was a lovely surprise. I lol'd at the Burger King card not even realising it was based on a real Hugh incident. What on earth was that about? And yes, while the image of Wilson dancing is always a most amusing and pleasant one, House had better avoid eating too many of those burgers. Or at stop forcing Wilson to pay for them XD

Mwah! ♥

ILU! This isn't as much of an inside joke as last year's but still... thought a trifle might amuse you.

Here's the AdAge article on the incident: http://adage.com/article?article_id=127924

Here's the TimesOnline piece: http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/celebrity/article4122713.ece

Why on earth would Hugh eat at Burger King?

I don't really think he would -- it was just an amusing anecdote. House, on the other hand, would totally eat at BK. Easy and greasy and no thought required.
