Post-o-rama
Apr. 2nd, 2008 08:43 pmMy son had a Mother Goose assignment today, and because it's Poetry Month, I bring you authentic Mother Goose HoYay:
Robin and Richard
Robin and Richard were two pretty men,
They lay in bed till the clock struck ten;
Then up starts Robin and looks at the sky,
"Oh, dear Richard, the sun's very high!
You go before, with the bottle and bag,
And I will come after on little Jack Nag."
(In the book we have, the poem comes complete with picture of Richard and Robin in bed together. They look like they're in their 30s or so, and not, to my eye, very pretty.)
Why May Not I Love Johnny?
Johnny shall have a new bonnet,
And Johnny shall go to the fair,
And Johnny shall have a blue ribbon
To tie up his bonny brown hair.
And why may not I love Johnny?
And why may not Johnny love me?
And why may not I love Johnny
As well as another body?
And here's a leg for a stocking,
And here's a foot for a shoe,
And he has a kiss for his daddy,
And two for his mammy, I trow [sic].
And why may not I love Johnny?
And why may not Johnny love me?
And why may not I love Johnny
As well as another body?
This one is HoYay free but reminds me of House MD:
The Man in Our Town
There was a man in our town,
And he was wondrous wise,
He jumped into a bramble bush,
And scratched out both his eyes;
But when he saw his eyes were out,
With all his might and main
He jumped into another bush,
And scratched 'em in again.

Maybe they could get up a threesome. Heh.

Rub-a-dub-dub
Three men in a tub,
And how do you think they got there?
How, indeed?..
