There are RSLs all over Australia! We have an RSL just down the road from us, called Oakleigh RSL, that serves really cheap food. It stands for Returned And Services League. :D
d'oh, i got the name wrong, FAIL. that's what i get for commenting at 4 in the morning XD
It's a support organisation for men and women who have either served in the armed forces or are currently serving. It's basically just a place to go for cheap food, alcohol and gambling. But all the profits go towards supporting the soldiers/other members of any Australian armed services.
Why are you sorry? It is funny. And if Australia had a semi-famous person known as "VFW (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_of_Foreign_Wars)" you could LOL at our places (which are, as far as I know, nowhere near as nice as the RSL club in Corowa).
LOLOL I remember wanting to comment on the RSL club phenomenom last year and chickening out. Cheap food, cheap booze, cruise ship entertainers, bingo, pokies, zero fashion standards - he'd feel right at home XD
