Katie Jacobs recently said (to Ausiello): "Right now, we're just exploring how Cameron and Chase running different departments either helps or hinders House."

WTF?  How in the hell are Cameron and Chase department heads?  The characters are like 30 years old!  Just got out of fellowships!  This makes no sense whatsoever.  Senior attending (which is also a little unbelievable for their level of experience but I had let it slide) does not equal department head!!!

On the plus side, it's incredibly freeing for me as a writer.  I don't have to research anything or make things logical because apparently House!world is totally unmoored from the real world.  AWESOME!

(No, it's not a typo.  She said earlier in the interview, "And how is it for Chase to be head of a department?")

ETA:  It has been brought to my attention that perhaps Katie Jacobs has suffered from brain injury of some sort, and is not speaking on behalf of the other producers.  My best wishes for a speedy recovery for Ms. Jacobs.

I know! Come on! It's not as if Wilson is a one-man Oncology department. (Or is he?) For one thing, Cuddy would have been more upset at his resignation last year. I want to see how he deals with his employees and whether they're all women like his patients and the nurses he fraternizes with rather than just House('s)!

Grr, exclamation point-inducing.

I can see a reason, dramatically, why you'd want your main characters doing the test

Sure, but the sheer frequency and ludicrousness (word?) with which the fellows and even House and Wilson perform certain functions stretches belief too far. They've had, what, one technician run labs for them? (The one House flirted with.) And two radiologists? (The guy in "Who's Your Daddy?" whom Wilson relieved, and the helper in "Autopsy" when Chase "magically" swapped pictures on the wall.) WHERE IS THE REST OF THE STAFF? Speaking of people the team could interact with! It's not as if the team can't talk among themselves while they watch someone else do the procedure.

Did you see how few people there were in the room for the kid's surgery in "Ugly"? LMAO, you'd expect there to be at least double.

Like, say, the number of people gathered 'round for the "rebooting" procedure in "Autopsy"? That's maybe the only time PPTH has felt like a real hospital with real teams of doctors in it.

Joe Bergen who operated on the tumor that shrank in The Socratic Method might be an oncologist.

And there were two of them in Babies & Bathwater -- the doctor running the clinical trials that House wanted to get Naomi in and "Brown from Oncology" who voted against kicking Wilson off the Board.

Since S1, I'm not sure if the department still has staff.
