Um, yeah. I had a really hard time figuring out what was going on in House's mind during this entire thing. He just sort of did stuff and Wilson sort of went along with it, which sounds really pretentious and artsy, but I really, really didn't know half the time I was trying to write him. Which is why I totally love your version, because, hey! Now I do!
That admission by Wilson seals the deal for House, and he's back to being his confident self.
The way I was thinking about it was House, at that point, is also kind of overwhelmed and kind of emotionally strung out, because it is a conversation about his feelings. And the whole conversation is sort of a roller coaster even for that much.
Did you feel House stayed scared up until the end of the fic? Or was there another point where he gained peace (the way Wilson does in the temple)?
I would say he stays that way until they meet up again for breakfast, when he gets some space to collect himself better. It's also not until then that he lets himself believe that it's possible.
in your mind, did House pre-plan his move on Wilson, or was it spur of the moment?
I think the way I wrote it originally was that House didn't pre-plan it before getting to Singapore, and then the idea started forming in his mind, and then he really didn't get the guts to do it until the second night.
Obviously, this is not quite the same version of events that you decided to go with, but I don't think that takes away from yours at all (seriously). Your reasonings make just as much sense as mine. :p
