This was a wonderful story, but because I am stressed at having to leave my home tomorrow to return to school and leave my beloved family and cats behind, I have decided to put on my Denial Glasses.
In this new, rose-coloured version, House woke up the day after the stressful birthday party and realized that his moving out, Elaine, and all the anguish that caused was a just a dream -- a cautionary dream. So there was lots more movie-theatre groping and sex in the park, all guilt-free (although they were extremely discreet). Nobody lived forever, but they had a damned nice life together for the time they had.
What's that, you say? Dramatic tension? Heroic sacrifice? [hands on ears] La la la la, I can't hear you...
Okay, your version is more poignant, but I like my little fantasy. Write some fluff soon, please!
