Episode Thoughts

Wowza, the House-Wilson in this ep was awesome. :DDDDDDDDDDD
They are so married in every way possible, and Wilson's "don't want to think about your morning glory" face/gesture was adorable enough to sustain me through YET ANOTHER ANVIL about how House and Cuddy are hot for each other. WE GET IT. THEY WANT TO BONE EACH OTHER. THIS WAS ESTABLISHED IN SEASON ONE, so seriously, show, shut up about it.
Cuddy trying to project a professional image and failing a little bit to hide her attraction to House was fine, even enjoyable. House telling Cuddy she made him feel tingly was fine, even enjoyable. The med students dicussing how Cuddy and House talking to each other was "foreplay" made me want to smack myself -- or preferably, the writer of that scene -- in the head with a brick. WE GET IT. QUIT HAVING EVERYBODY ELSE TALK ABOUT IT.
If you want other characters to talk about a relationship, why don't you have them discuss how House and Wilson are married, married, MARRIED? Seriously, why haven't we had a "You're not a couple? Really?" scene yet? The bit with O'Shea (at the beginning of Season Five) was almost there, but I can't believe he's the only one who thinks there's something a little different from platonic buddy-dom going on.

Date: 2009-10-20 02:44 am (UTC)I kept expecting House to get into bed with Wilson. Honestly expecting it. It would have made so much sense.

Date: 2009-10-20 02:56 am (UTC)Cuddy has been looking great this season. Her focusing on her own life instead of being moony over House has made her so much more interesting.

I totally agree. Setting boundaries has been a good thing for her. I think she's gotten to the point where she's not so desperate to have somebody love her that if the opportunity for something resembling a relationship should arise (either with House or with somebody else), then she could handle it much, much better than she did last season.

Type One (http://deelaundry.livejournal.com/236176.html)
I wouldn't call it fun, exactly, but it is domestic. : )

Date: 2009-10-20 04:14 am (UTC)As for House and Wilson being married, I wouldn't be surprised if the series went even further than Boston Legal did and ended with a reveal that House and Wilson have been legally married for some time.

ETA that I did have to laugh at Wilson's reaction to catching (or thinking he caught) House jerking off. The complete and utter squick was fabulous, out of a guy who probably can't be squicked by much of anything.
And that scene gave me a plot bunny that ended up encompassing a lot of what happened in this episode. I have a finished first draft already. Amazing, for me.

Date: 2009-10-20 07:11 am (UTC)Have to admit, House and Wilson did not read slashy to me, but it seldom does on the first viewing. As for friendship, I couldn't be happier.

Date: 2009-10-20 12:35 pm (UTC)House and Wilson didn't read slashy to me in this episode either, and that is fine. Plenty of married couples let their sex life fall to the wayside :D Wilson's TMI! faces were so adorable, heh.
But if you think about their public interactions overall throughout the show -- if two guys in my office acted the way H&W do, I would totally assume they were a couple. An on-and-off couple, maybe, but absolutely involved romantically. They "code" that way, if I'm using that term correctly. So it seems a little strange, given all the outside observers on House-Cuddy the show throws at us, that there's never been a scene where someone assumes House and Wilson are together.

Date: 2009-10-20 12:43 pm (UTC)Wilson's reaction in that scene was adorable. Because of my own personal preference, I normally hate scenes that are WE ARE SO STRAIGHT, but this scene I loved. ♥ ♥ ♥
(And, yes, I know that the canon characters are straight, and the producers have no obligation whatsoever to follow my personal preference that it be left open (or confirmed) that House and Wilson are both bisexual. It's my preference that's all.)

Date: 2009-10-20 12:47 pm (UTC)It would totally make sense for House and Wilson to have legal documents. I mean, given how much they act on each other's behalf, it'd just be easier.

Date: 2009-10-20 03:00 pm (UTC)Not a lot of sexual tension at all but lots of caring :) even if they can't express it well!
I hope you feel inspired to write more domestic scenes :) I just love your writing!

The whole thing made me very very happy indeed.

Date: 2009-10-20 03:36 pm (UTC)Back in "Hunting" in 2nd season, Kalvin states this outright:
House: [Sighs.] Dr Wilson, I want you to meet my stalker
Kalvin: Your waiting room sucks.
House: I am not treating you.
Kalvin: What, because you're a closet-case? [He gives House and Wilson a pointed look.]
Wilson: Err... we're not... err... together.
House: [Turns around to give Wilson a look.] He is so self-loathing.
OTOH, this was a PotW's observation, so I dunno if it counts.

I hated that scene. It's not sexual tension, it's sexual HARASSMENT, and that's why I will never ship House/Cuddy, because Cuddy's not a saint, but she sure deserves someone who treats her better than that. Ugh. And to think I was all pleased with myself that I've stepped far enough away from the show (and the fandom) to just WATCH the show, and then that scene happened and I was full of fannish rage all over again, lol.
