I am feeling very "chicken with head cut off"/bored. It's an odd combination.

Three items:

1) Anybody want to talk about Remix? After the eye-stabbing frustration (TY, Huge, for the fish suggestion) that was me + BigBang*, Remix has gone surprisingly smoothly. How about you?

*BigBang itself was delightful; the problem was all me. Twelve wonderful long stories (plus mine) with awesome art will be going up Sunday morning on the website for [livejournal.com profile] house_bigbang.

2) Aftershocks is up for discussion at [livejournal.com profile] housefic_meta. If you want to ask a question or make a comment or bitch about the stupid OOC epilogues, go on over. You don't have to be a member of the comm to join the discussion.

3) I've finally calmed down a little bit about the crazy self-absorbed kooks giving feminism a very, very bad name. STEPHBASS, TICCY, and DAASGRRL, if any of you ever happen to run across those LOLstralians, would you slap them for me? TYVM

I haven't started my remix yet. It's... I'm not looking forward to it. I haven't found one story by my person that I like, and not just because they're House/Cameron, but because they're fucking (poorly written) epics.

I probably shouldn't have read this. I can't stop making little D: faces.

The whole "Joss Whedon Rapes His Wife (http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/1146668.html)" thing broke my brain initially, and I cannot form real sentences any longer.

You don't have to remix the whole epic; you can pick one part. Any scenes at all that are interesting enough to remix? You can't change pairings, but I think you can make a story more gen.

Any subplots with other characters that are interesting?

Anamatics had posted about the Joss Whedon rant and I followed that through to their main site.

Oh, no, my rage is rising again...

THEY DELETE COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH THEM! THEY PROPOSE NO PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO INCREASE EQUALITY OR IMPROVE ANYONE'S LIFE!!!

Gah, crazy bitches.

The problem is that I don't want to read them all. None of them sound interesting, and her writing style is unappealing to me. This remix thing is more complicated than I thought it would be.

Hilariously, I just realized the person who wrote that fic rant? Is bff with the one who wrote the rape rant. SMALL WORLD.

Also, I would PAY someone to find me a fic where it ends with the guys turning straight at the end. I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER SEEN THAT AND I'VE BEEN READING GAY FIC STEADILY FOR A DECADE.

Why yes, because anal penetration with a Popsicle is so worshipful. *eyeroll*

Remix. Ah yes, aka the fic I haven't started yet, though I have put Much Thought into it.

Are those the same "radical feminists" who said Joss Whedon rapes his wife? THEY HAVE THE BAD KIND OF CRAZY.

The fic rant is posted on the site they run together. Here is their philosophy: http://spinningspinsters.wordpress.com/5/

YOU REALIZE THAT YOU READ GAY FIC BECAUSE YOU ARE ACCUSTOMED TO BEING RAPED, RIGHT? RIGHT??!!!????

Good gravy, they're nuts.

However, as radical feminists have long known, erotically charged homosocialism has always been a necessary fixture of male supremacist and heterosexual culture. Men can only view other men as human, and it is therefore perfectly logical for men to develop deep, complex and even erotic relationships with each other, whilst still being ‘heterosexual’ to maintain sexual and emotional dominance over women, since, under patriarchy, sexual relationships can only follow a dominance/submission model, and most men hardly want to give up their right to the position of dominance over women by ‘turning’ gay.

I would argue that this hasn't been a pervasive cultural belief since Roman times. And even then, it's was still causing a few raised eyebrows.
Also, it could be argued that women have likewise had deep and erotically-charged friendships, that men were never privy to. Such as in Boston Marriages. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_marriage) But she would probably argue that all girl-on-girl action also contributes to TEH PATRIARCHY, as it's been co-opted by the porn industry. Or something.

Also, that paragraph is terribly structured. IF YOU'RE GOING TO WRITE TREATISES ON WHY SLASH IS SUPPORTING TEH PATRIARCHY, LEARN TO USE SOME GODDAMM PUNCTUATION.

It's worshipful if you enjoy being raped because you, as a woman, have been brainwashed into it by the phallocentric, male-controlled society we live in!!!

I'd kind of like to Remix that essay into something that comes from this world. Hmmm.

Because, under partriarchy I cannot recognise my own sexual desires, or the possibility of a female-centric sexuality, and my female sexual desire is still trapped within patriarchal (non)understanding.

ALSO IT IS UNBELIEVABLY FUCKING HOT

See, you would argue that because you are a reasonable person capable of analysis and logic, and therefore anti-feminist and anti-woman. ANTI-WOMAN!

Punctuation is a tool of male dominance and patriarchy. Look at how phallic the exclamation point is, as if the only thing one could get excited about is the erect penis. And the colon obviously reflects the beautiul female nipples, givers of sustenance and comfort, but the only way they can be portrayed is on their side : because men cannot handle the awe-inspiring nuturing strength of women and must contort this symbol to their own ends.

...

Wow, radical feminisim is fun! If only they'd let me shave my armpits ):

Also like

slashers are some of the most female-bondy people around. PERSONALLY I FIND IT EMPOWERING AND I SUSPECT SHE IS A TOOL OF THE PATRIARCHY. SHE IS A ~SPY~

But clearly I don't know what I am talking about because I have had het sex in my life.

As a scary hairy feminist, with awe-inspiring pit tufts, I totally resent that.

And analysis and reason is obviously a tool of misogyny. Whereas pseudo-spiritualism and intuition (and stupid assumptions) are pro-women.

*snicker*

This whole site is HILARIOUS. I'd be more insulted, especially by their links to an anti-transgender site, if I wasn't laughing so hard.

I've picked my Remix story, and I need to set aside a couple of evenings to consult the original work, map out what I want, and write it. One thing college has been good for is teaching me how to write in a set time frame.

I admit my biggest sticking point with the idea is that, going by musical terminology, it should be a cover and not a remix.

Ah, BigBang. I would have put in my wingfic for that, but I'd already posted drafts to my journal, rendering it ineligible. I'm not working on it right now - personal worries over the Jewish content and other creative writing projects with deadlines - so I guess I'll pick it up again in summer.

1) Not doing it. I was thinking about it very seriously because I would just love to see one of my stories remixed, until I suddenly realized that I might be put in a [livejournal.com profile] serotonin_storm position. That, and it's been decisively proven that I cannot write to a prompt.

2) Shut up. The epilogues are not OOC. ♥

3) Hee! I saw the Rapist!Whedon thing via another friend's post. Then I followed the links and saw the SLASH=EVIL post. Christ on a pony, those girls are absolute loons.

Silly me. I thought feminism was about equal pay, securing jobs, fighting domestic violence, and fucking who I please; not some yuppie hipster spoiled brats nitpicking because they don't have a clue about actual problems facing women that aren't white suburban and upper class.
