House's eulogy for himself: Final scene of a WIP I'm letting go
This is the final scene of a WIP I started years ago in which Wilson leaves everything behind to go on a roadtrip with House, who is dying with just months to live.
House writes his own eulogy. He gives it to Foreman to keep unopened until the funeral, but makes Kutner read it:
"I know none of you liked me -- except you, Cameron, yes, hi, and Cuddy when she wasn't infuriated and/or on the rag." Sorry, Dr. Cuddy. "But if you had any respect for me whatsoever, if you have any gratitude for anything I've ever done that benefited you, then you owe me this: Watch over Wilson. He's a weirdo, and he's going to be completely lost without me."
"He's crying now, isn't he? What a pussy." Sorry, Dr. Wilson. "Well, somebody hand him a handkerchief, because here it comes, the last thing I'll ever say about James Wilson: I love this man. I love him with every molecule of my heart. I --" Kutner clears his throat "--never fucked him, never wanted to, but he let me hold him, and kiss him, and sleep next to him every night for months."
"I told Cuddy once that James Wilson is never the safe choice, and he's not. He's a bastard, through and through. He's a liar, and a manipulator, and a cheat, and he's broken more hearts than I've operated on. He just about broke mine, once or twice. But he's also the only person who ever got me to believe in family. Sorry, Mom, I know you tried, and I do love you, but the old man was an albatross around your neck from day one." Sorry, Mrs. House, Mr. House.
"James Wilson is my family, and I don't give a damn about anything I leave behind besides him. Anybody who owes me anything had better work it off by looking out for him."
