Well, by allotted time I mean the time that any other set of parents would have cherished and enjoyed. The time they should have fought for tooth and nail for - after all, this is what they wanted most, to be together and raise a child together.
I frankly don't understand House's motivation. Why *can't* they move? Big deal, so Jack will change schools. Once. And friends - as if his current homophobic friends are so wonderful and special that they must be bound to Jack's heart with hoops of steel. As if they are worth not having two happy and loving parents in the house. I understand why House would say: this is screwing up Jack's life. But how is what he did to their family better than moving Jack to a more gay-friendly location?
It seems like House, in his infinite wisdom, has ruined everything for no good reason, and Wilson, god knows why, just let him go along with it. Not even making an effort to get him back. Just sort of pulled back with a teary sigh and decided that House is House, and oh well.
