This is a beautiful story and I'm looking forward to reading the rest. One question: why was the Family Board taken down? Did Mrs Walker choose to take the board down altogether rather than post a picture of Jack's unconventional drawing on it, or did the principal tell her to take it down? Here in Utah the school board banned all school clubs rather than allow LGBT clubs, so I could believe the former (unfortunately).
