Two Points from Last Night's House Episode
Not-so-subtle first, because I'm like that:
"She was in love with you. For years. ... You toyed with her emotions ..."
Wilson, honey, sweetie, don't you remember at all what Amber was trying to teach you? Remember the bed? It is OK for you to want things for yourself. You are allowed to be annoyed for yourself that House hasn't apologized for all the jerking around he's done to you. And, yes, you've done some jerking around to House, too, but it is still OK for you to want more straightforward affection and acknowledgment from House. You may not get it, but it's OK for you to want it.
The more subtle point, which was marvelous -- As House is writing out the check for Wibberly, he tells Wilson "your hectoring" has finally won.
But Wilson didn't do any hectoring of House about Wibberly. In fact, Wilson ignored all the pages House sent to him about the issue.
So, why did House think Wilson had hectored him? Because baby's growing an internal conscience! I am so proud! Of course, House has always had a conscience for larger issues; he's always done what he thought was right; but in this case, thinking through how something affects a single person (other than a patient) rather than truth itself or House himself -- awesome. :D
And, before I forget, one last character analysis for which all credit goes to Mr. Laundry. Mr. L took care of the kids last night so I could watch the House ep with my friends (YAY, FRIENDS; YOU ARE SO AWESOME) and watched the episode by himself this morning.
I asked him how he liked the ep, and he said, "It was OK, but I didn't buy the end with the med school friend."
"You don't believe House would give him the money?"
"I don't believe House didn't know that the guy had gotten an A+ on the paper. House is the kind of person who wants to confirm his hypotheses, right? So there's no way he wouldn't have followed through back in med school and found out what grade the other guy got."
