Hanging Around Tonight

I'm actually hanging around LJ/email tonight, so stop by and say hi, if you wanna.

I've been a very, very, very bad fan and lurker these days, I know. Two things have conspired against me. First, I agreed to teach 7 courses next year (I usually do 3-4) because someone is away on leave... which means two different languages and tons of research for the others... I am trying to keep the panic down to a dull roar. ;-)

Second... By not being a writer I feel like such a vampire in the fandom. I know that authors like readers, of course! But it sometimes feels like a writers' club (and there is nothing at all wrong with that; why shouldn't birds of a feather flock together?) So I lurk :D

I am sorry for letting you down...!

Seven! YIKES! Who would have time for anything, with that kind of load?

Why would being a reader but not writer make you feel like a vampire? It ought to make you feel like vampire bait. We writers in the shadows with our fangs out, hungry for precious feedback, and then you walk by, smelling so good, thrumming with what we need, and it's all we can do not to devour you whole.

OK, that's kind of creepy, but I'm hoping you get what I mean. Thoughtful readers are the most AWESOME FANS IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE. *hugs hugs hugs*

*sniffs at neck*

*keeps self in check and lets you go*

With that said, you most certainly have not let me down. I miss hearing from you, but it's not your obligation to comment. Not in any way.

*real hug*

LOL, I suspect you might be the most sensible -- and sweetest -- person in fandom.

Your reply made me feel infinitely better; I was feeling inadequate for not being able to contribute as much as other people, but you reminded me even a little bit of "blood" can hit the spot (as it were) XD

*real hug back*
